2014 PLU applicants?

Published

Anyone applying to PLU this year? I'm also applying to UW in Seattle, will be my 1st time applying to PLU, anyone have any tips or advice? Not sure how the application process for them works.

Congrats Maly14! I went and checked out the campus today, it's very nice. They have such small classrooms which I'm not used to I went to University of Wisconsin where most classes were around 400 or more people! I'm very excited about the program but still waiting to hear from Seattle U too. Did you apply to SU as well?! :)

Anichka I'm so sorry about the rejection from PLU, but at least you got the interview from SU today!! So exciting! I have to say I am very impressed with how PLU went about the whole application process, I thought it was just done in a very professional way and where they didn't completely stress out the applicants. Where SU on the other hand just seemed disorganized at points, it was stressful just finding out if they received my application and then they received my transcripts but then lost them so I had to resend them after the application deadline.

I applied to SU as well :) CNM track & got the email for interviews :)

Thats so great to hear about the smaller classrooms!! I did my undergrad at U of Washington so I also had huge 400-500 people lecture classes even after I got into my major. It wasn't until I was taking my pre-reqs that I finally was in the smaller classrooms & find em a much better fit for my learning style.

I agree that PLUs application process seemed a lot smoother & supportive. I remember I had a hard time submitting my SU app due to their website not working properly. I'm looking forward to the SU interview to get a better sense of what the school/faculty are like :) I've heard great things about both schools!!!

Are you from Washington or Wisconsin?

Yeah I'm excited to have the opportunity to interview for SU! I'm nervous though, such a big deal, I hope my nerves don't get the best of me. I'm from Wisconsin but I moved to Seattle a little over a year ago and absolutely love it here!! U of Washingnton looks like a great school, the campus is just beautiful!!

Thought I had mailed my application & just found it in my car :( they don't have a drop box or anything do they?! So mad at myself for missing the deadline like this!! Ugh

I was just accepted at PLU as well!

Congrats Hmarie12!! Are you accepting it for sure or are you still waiting on other schools?!

Thanks! You as well! I accepted - it was my first choice program. You're waiting on Seattle U?

I'm still waiting on Seattle U. I really like PLUs program it just makes me nervous that it's the cares and outcome manager, I don't know if that means it would decrease the chance of getting a job where we are more hands on with patients but rather am in an office more often.

Gotcha. I work with a nurse who is an ELMSN grad and she does bedside nursing just like everyone else (makes sense that hands-on experience is required for any nursing career path), but if NP is your goal I totally see why Seattle U might make more sense for you. Good luck with your interview! Either way, I don't think a new grad would be put immediately in a management type position without any experience at the bedside.

That's a good point. I'm excited for either program!

Drenz - I feel the same way!!! I wish PLU guaranteed becoming an NP.

I wonder how competitive it actually is to apply after the 1st year.
