Does your school still say the Pledge of Allegiance? I've seen posts around facebook lately along the lines of "bring the pledge back into school" or "Do you remember when?" with pictures of kids facing the flag. And it got me to wondering how many schools still did this, if it was a regional thing, private/public thing, ect.
We are a public school and still have the pledge broadcast every morning at the start of the day. Every kid (and staff) stand, face the flag and recite together. Obviously from my name, you can gather I'm in the midwest.
What do you do?
How many of you know that "under God" wasn't added to the Pledge until 1954, when President Eisenhower signed it into law because the Cold War was heating up and we was gonna whup them dirty Commies.
Personally, I think adding those two words have diluted the message; "one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" just sounds more powerful to me.

A kid read the pledge like that today, left out under God. This is a public school, but all the kids thought he was lame and stupid, and yea, we get it you're irreverent, just say the pledge.
When my daughter was 3 she would come home from preschool, flip over my laundry basket, climb her adorable little Chinese self on top of it & say her pledges from school. At the end of her Bible pledge she'd say "that I might not SEND against God." I never corrected her because it was so flippin' cute.

Where and when was the pledge banned? Which God do they want to put back in school? Which news reporters pledge the flag?
