Hi all AN , i got my cgfns report today, for 1 state i got comparable to BSN nurse however for another state i got a 1st level general nurse , which i know that i must of fell short in hours so checked my report, i was short of 2 hours in peads theory only i had more than double the requirement needed for the clinical and 14 hours short in theory on for psych nursing however i had 4x the amount needed for the clinical, i could not understand this as i had done a lot of hours in mental health, however my college put 120 hours under "mental health concepts" as i covered heaps as they were confused what to put it under? So cgfns stated thats completely different to the theory of mental health nursing/psych? And i asked how and they said , mental health psych covers dementia and i said i have that , one programme was stated a higher dementia that was awarded 40 hours and the rest was schizophrenia, bipolar and depression which was 40 hours each! Well they looked at my stuff and said oh yes we can see that , they put the hours in the wrong box? So i said what can you do, and they said i have to pay $250 for an evaluation and get the college to state they put it in the wrong box? Am dumbfounded! They would not tell me what mental health concepts were either! Does anyone on here know? I have searched the internet and it says mental health nursing? Please help anyone !! I would be grateful for any advice

Hi Suzy, just a quick question. How did you compare the report given to you and where? I also looked through my report I had clinical hours missing for geriatric, long term and pharma. I haven't called the BON about this because I also don't wanna raise up the concern and just let it be until they see it. My mental health on the other hand was 36 theory hours and 51 clinical hours. It sucks that they're making you pay a re-evaluation fee and wait it out again as I know you've waited for so long already. We'll get there. =) Thank you for your help on the previous topics I've posted. I may
Oh okay I found it :) I didn't read thoroughly my bad.. :) Mine states that it is Comparable to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing programin the United States. Does anybody know if that will raise any concern? Even if I have a few blanks for the clinicals? Thank you
Both of my applications also compared to a BSN nursing programme :) but it says 1st level registered nurse ? What is that ? Is it enough to sit the exam ? I got comparible to a BSN nurse in my other report :)
1st level general nurse i meant to say
Pa reading your one you have enough for mental health :)
I only had 20 hours theory and 192 hours clinical , for mental health but i really had more than that in theory but they never put it down as in the wrong box even though my certificates in that area was as clear as day lol
I was not asked about my hours in the subjects you are talking about , i did do them tho and florida , only florida asked about them , but no hours were asked
I think first level general nurse means that you are licensed in the country where you were educated in. Me too I felt like I had more hours than the school put down since I started my clinicals in my second year of nursing and we did them thrice a week. I just feel deprived lol but nevertheless if that allows me to sit in for NCLEX I have no complaints. Did you apply for two states? And are you now just waiting for your ATT?
Yeah i applied to 2 states , i was well over my hours for most of it , it was in my report the hour requirement for florida but not Michigan , and it was low , i tripled and quadrupled the hours required so i wouldn't worry to much! It was just theory i fell short in with 14 hours in psych/mental health but i have that , just a hassle i have to pay $250 to show it and 2 hours theory short in peads but am going to wait and see what the board says first as my clinical hours are high
Oh and ps it says that am comparable in florida my education is comparable to bsn nurse training as i did 4.5 years in total and am comparable to a first level RGN , but in michigan am comparable to a BSN nurse ? So i just hope that i can still sit the nclex on my 1st level RGN as its florida i want to go to :)
I'm not too sure about this shouldn't you need to do the cgfns certification program if your a 1st level general nurse? Yeah just wait on what the board will say. I hope they consider it.
