Hello everyone,
I am starting a yahoo group dedicated to ISU LPN to RN program. My objective it to compile all of the information in one user friendly place. This is a breif description: [h=4]Description[/h] (Edit)

I am hoping to build a place where currant ISU students, future students, and graduates can share information and recieve support from one another. Together we can share a wealth of information, answer questions, provide links and find study partners. I believe this group can save ISU students fruitless hours of searching for answers to common questions. Together we can make the ISU LPN to BSN journey a successful one.

This is the group name: ISU_LPNtoBSN - Indiana State University LPN to BSN
I will be working on adding all the information I have found. I am hoping you will join the group, and add information you have found useful, weather it be links, useful study guides and helpful tips, a place to meet a study partner, to take a break, or just say hi! It is a work in progress at the moment, but I believe we can make this a success together.
If anyone has any suggestions, comments, feedbacks, ideas, ect.....
I am all ears!!!

I am in the process of putting up information on what course's match what tests and who they are through. I am also working on What courses can be fufilled through Ivy Tech. I would like to put up a state to state clinical guide for facilities/nurses that are provided clinical opportunities. I am also putting up links and resources for study tools, amung many other things. I should have a good amount of informations up by the end of the week. I am hoping this can be a place for people to also connect, weather they are testing out of the same course, or taking the same Ivy Tech course, Do's & Dont's, ect.....
This is a tremendous amount of work on my part, and would really appriciate in hearing if there is any interest or not. Excelsior students have an amazing support network and I feel ISU should have the same opportunities. Being part of a distance education program can make you feel like your left in the dark, I want to change that.
Thank you in advance to all who reply.

I applaud you for your initiative. What I have seen is this: ISU is not just a corresponence course or just a distant learning program. The ISU program is an actual university program with lecture, weekly requirements/goals, tests, and clinicals. Although, students are scattered around the world. Because each class has its didactic portion, it requires students to communicate with the professor and other students through Blackboard. This enables the ISU students to create a support group that is specific for each semester's classes. Because most of the students are in the same classes as they matriculate through the program, it is easy to make friends and help each other--especially because at the beginning of the semester every student in the class is required to post an introduction with a photo. Each ISU nursing student has a ISU email--making it easy to keep in touch with other ISU nursing students.
The difference between ISU and Excelsior is Excelsior does not have the clinical and didactic contact that the ISU distant learning nursing students enjoy. Because there is contact among the students within the program, it is seldom necessary to post specific info on AN. I have the feeling that this is the reason there are more posts from Excelsior students than ISU stuents here at AN.
Addendum: The reason there may be more posts on the Excelsior website is because Excelsior is fare more affordable and does not require clinicals. There may be far more students working on their degree through Excelsior than those attending the ISU nursing program.
Thanks Ladyinscrubs. I hadn't ever thought about why more people are in the Excelsior boards etc. that makes sense though.

galenanurse,
I think its a great idea. I too believe there needs to be a coming together and sharing of information. I am in the process of taking my 4 tests. I would appreciate any information that was shared and I'm sure others would too, especially those who are just contemplating ISU. Keep up the good work.

If you are still interested in starting a post for potential ISU students, that may be a great post. While enrolled students can exchange info between themselves, ISU prerequisite and challenge exam students have no place to get info, provide feed back, or vent. You may want to concentrate in that area.
Hello Ladyinscrubs,
I will be attending ISU this coming spring 2013. Currently I am studying to challenge the 4 test required on phase II. what about you?
