Please help.

Hello. This is so hard to post. But due to chronic pain, I have become addicted to pain meds. They aren't prescribed. I am going to a methadone clinic soon. 1. To help stop this stupid behavior I'm doing before I go to prison or die. 2. To help with the unrelenting pain I have daily and try to get my life back and somewhat be able to function.

Does anyone know if I have to disclose to the clinic my profession and where I get my meds?

Do I have to disclose to my employer that I'm on methadone?

I'm so scared and disappointed in myself but know this is the right course for me before something bad happens.

This physical addiction has come directly from MDs refusing to help me and treat my pain, unfortunately. I'm angry at them and myself for getting to this point.

Any insight would be great.

Yes! Dialysis is great. I worked for Fresenius for 3 1/2 years. They pay well and have really good benefits. I found a job closer to home so thats the only reason I left. I was driving 1 hr 15 min 1 way, no I drive 20min. I work as an infection control nurse now at a LTC facility. I get paid good here but the benefits are not as good. Good luck!

I applaud you for taking that first step to get off the drugs - and realizing that it is a problem.
Your health and well-being are #1. So please take care of YOU. ❤️
Now comes my opinion, which may not be popular:

Get the help you need. Period.
I understand the need to work so you can pay your bills, so I think you should keep working (apparently you’ve been able to do your job while on these meds).

I suggest keeping it to yourself. Get clean and move on with your life. Let it be a lesson. I also think it would be a good idea to find a support group to help you stay clean.

I wish you all the best - and I know you can do it. You’ve taken the first step. Hugs. ?

That’s a great suggestion, but wouldn’t she be drug-tested prior to employment?

If she's at a methadone clinic, she will have a medical explanation for it. Believe me, I've hired someone in her shoes, and she's my best worker

So I started at the methadone clinic today. And I can say that the pain is already so improved with ONE dose. I have ZERO desire to use tonight. I'm excited for what this means for my future. Thank you all for the support and love. It's not easy being an addicted nurse in secrecy. Although the MD today told me I am not am addict. I'm dependent because of the pain. ❤️

Also, yes, I have been able to do my job while on these meds. I never used to get high or knock myself to Oblivion. It really was all about the chronic pain. Just so happens with opioids, you build a tolerance so fast so you have to take more and more. But I'm done!

That’s so great to hear! I know you can do it, and I know what it’s like to live with chronic pain. Take care of yourself. You’ve got this! ????

I felt absolutely amazing all night. I work NOC shift. Second dose today and already feel amazing. I think this is it guys. ❤️

I can't stress enough that you need to avoid providing any information about how you collected your pain medication. In many cases, HIPAA laws go out the window when the pattern of collection involved illegal activity.

Also, I'm glad your feeling better.

I most definitely have not disclosed any of that information.
