I just failed my course on cardiology and was told that it had to be repeated next year. I am so upset. I almost dropped out.It is very hard to let go of this dream. What should I do now. I am still required to take the next part of the semester which is GI/ GU, with the most horrible instructor, she wrote a book for this course. Only 1/4 of her class passed. I feel like I might have anervous breakdown after all that has happened. Please send any advice that you think may help.

Thanks for listening.:o ::confused:

(((((((((((((((((((((so sorry)))))))))))))))))))))))

Many students have to repeat a course. Nursing school is very hard. Cardiology is so involved with so much to learn and memorize. I hope you do not let go of your dream. I know it feels very bad right now and that you have suffered a loss. But it has happened to other students before you and will happen to other students after you. Do not feel alone. Many good thoughts and a prayer sent your way.

Just keep plugging away. A LOT of people have to retake these courses, so you are NOT alone. Just concentrate on your next rotation and don't let this setback be a permanent one!

POSITIVE THINKING!!! :kiss

I am so sorry to hear that. One of my best friends just failed med/surg II....it is tough for her as well as me. We'd planned on graduating together and now she'll be a year behind me. However, we are looking in to the possibility of her taking it at another school over the summer and transferring it into our school so she can still graduate with us. Of course that's up our school whether she can do that or not. Maybe there is some way for you to look into something similar?

keep working at your dream by doing what you have to do; the cardiology will go better next time. Make an appointment with the GI/GU instructor, use the office hours for any help you need to pass. Evaluate your study habits and learning modes to see if you can do something different to increase success. Can you join a study group, get a tutor, are you so busy taking notes you are missing the points, are you able to set aside time for studies when you are alert, is there another way you can prepare for class????? Scrutinize yourself! :)

do all this of course after you have a tiny little preventative nervous breakdown!

you've worked hard and are very disappointed.....put on some emotional music, dance around a while, then lie on your bed, kick your feet, cry and bite your pillow. Then get up, call a friend and plan something fun for the weekend.

good luck!

I am so shocked. You have all answered my call for help so fast. Thank you Thank you thank you

Things will get better! 20 years ago when I was in school, one of my good friends in my nursing class unfortunately failed her med-surg rotation. She was devastated! And let me tell you, she was one of the smartest in the bunch. But after much emotional support from her friends, she picked herself up, took the med-surg rotation again during the summer and passed. She is still working today as an excellent med-surg nurse.

You can do it to! You have gotten this far. Do not give up! I agree with Maureen, let yourself feel what you feel, grieve, then pick yourself up and move on.

Also don't psych yourself out over this next instructor! Think positively! Good luck and keep us posted! Jeanne

You can do it, don't give up. I studied in all my free time. Also worked to pay bills. It is hard, but if you want something bad enough you will suceed. Have faith and give it your all!

So very sorry but don't give up on your dream, in my school there are many people that are repeating courses. I know it is a downer, but keep your chin up. You have the right attitude RN2Bee. Good luck and keep going!

Don't give up. I failed Med-Surg I, had to repeat it d/t my husband having a CABG, and I had to withdraw from Med-Surg II because my grades weren't very good, and I was afraid to go ahead and risk failing again(that would have put me out of the program). But, I'm back in now and so far have a 'B' average. I was sorry that I didn't get to graduate with the class I started out with, but I'm not the only one. Sometimes things happen in life and puts you behind, but you just have to pick things up and start off all over again. Good Luck!

Good advice !

Best Wishes RN2Bee:)

I agree with all of the above. Don't let this small setback stop you from moving forward. I especially love maureeno's advice:

Yep, allow yourself that moment to kick, scream, and cry - but then get your self up and move on. And definately treat yourself to some fun and laughs with your friends!
