Hi Albert -

You can probably connect with an agency who may be able to assist you if you go to the travel nursing section of this board and look at the ads and links at the bottom of the page.

Be sure to check them out carefully as I have heard of agencies being less than honest and tying foreign nurses down with lower than usual wages when they are trapped in a contract tied to their permit to stay in this country.

If you are not sure if what they are offering is reasonable, come on here with the details and someone should be able to help.

I'm not sure if my agency uses international travelers or not, but if you would like to email me I can ask.

hello, niiberto and welcome to allnurses.com

i moved your thread to the international forum for a better response. suzanne, the moderator for this forum, will be along later to assist you.

Welcome to Allnurses.com and our International Forum.........:balloons:

Now to your problem..............were you denied a tourist visa to the US? This happens quite a bit for foreign nurses. My suggestion would be for you to take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam in London, England. That way you would then be able to get petitioned for a green card, and can get approval that way.

International nurses require petitioning for the green card. Most travel companies want at least one to two years of experience as an RN in the US first. And this is how it should be. Any foreign-trained nurse deserves a good, solid orientation.

So, travel contracts are not a good thing for foreign nurse, at least to start, plus it takes over a year for the petition process. These types of requests are always better suited for the International Forum. There are also mnay ohter issues that need to be dealt with that do not happen with American RNs.

hi bagladyrn,please i have not been able to visit the site you talked about.please can you info me again on how to visit the site.But cant your agency help me.thank you.

hi Susanna,thanks for your response.but it is really difficult to get a visitors visa to UK or even the US,that is why i was looking for an agency to help me.thank you.

An agency is unable to do anything for you in terms of coming to the US to take the NCLEX-RN exam, that is why centers were opened in many other countries for this purpose. Tourist visas have absolutely nothing to do with working here. And visas are handled by immigration, not the agency. No agency is going to take responsibility for someone that they do not know yet either. It just doesn't work that way.

There are five centers now in India, there is a center in Saipan-- it is a US territory, and you can get a three day visa for there without all of hte immigration headaches. Seoul, Hong Kong, etc.

The other option that you do have, is to just write the CGFNS exam there. I do not recommend wasting your time to do that, but it is another option for you.

Hi Suzanna,thanks for the reply.So it means that the best option for me is to get a visa to any of the centres where the NCLEX RN is written and then take the exams?thank you.

Yes. That is what you need to do.

Hi. Here to add up some more info. As mentioned, NCLEX is being administered internationally. One doesnt have to go to US to take the exam. PEARSONVUE handles the administration of the exam.

Visit Pearsonvue.com.

In addition to

London, England;

Seoul, South Korea;

and Hong Kong,

last February 15, 2006, appointments will be accepted for NCLEX testing on, or after April 1, 2006, at Pearson Professional Centers located in

Sydney, Australia; Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, Canada;

Frankfurt, Germany;

Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai, India;

Mexico City, Mexico;

and Taipei, Taiwan.

So see where is nearest and more convenient to you, I guess India? : ) Then visit the website of the respective immigration department on how to acquire tourist visa.

For Hong Kong, an open tourist region ,you dont have to get a visa beforehand. A permit of stay of 7-14 days is given upon arrival and after interview with the immigration at Hong Kong airport. But it is farther from you, right? But then again, Hong Kong is a place to see.

Hope that helped. :stone

Peace.

Hi suzanna,thanks for your reply.i will work towards getting a visa to any of the countries where the exams is written.thank you again.
