Please help not sure what I'm supposed to wear to hospital orientation!

Published

Hey, I have my new employee hospital orientation tomorrow and all I have is the time (7:30-12:30) which means I may or may not be going to the floor afterwards..I never was told...so I don't know whether to wear a business casual outfit or scrubs? or maybe my scrub pants with a nice t-shirt? And if I wear business casual pants, do my shoes have to be closed or can they be a little open? should be not have heals? sorry for so many questions havin a mini nervous breakdown here lol (and I thought it was all over after taking the Nclex..guess not!)

I have always been told what to wear. No jeans, short or tank tops. Some always wear scrubs and you will be prepared if they want you to go to the floor. some orientation was half a day. maybe you can call the hospital and ask?

Ok so you think it's possible that at 12:30 that is the end of my day?? I would call the hospital but HR is closed by now!! and it's tomorrow!! Maybe I'd be safe in scrubs...but I don't want to seem unprofessional!!

You'll be ok. The first day of orientation is usually paperwork, paperwork, paperwork anywho lol.

Congratulations on your new job and i'm sure you will be great. I would stick with scrubs to be safe.

My orientation was last month we could wear business casual or scrubs... most people chose business casual, but either was fine.

wearing a lab coat when your at the hospital with your business casual dress looks smart and could make a good impression just watch out for folks in scrubs approaching you for orders:uhoh21:!

congratulations !

Wearing scubs would not be unproffessional. As a traveler I go to orientation 2-4 times a year and 1/3 to 1/2 wear scrubs. If they told you it is 730-1230 you are probably done at 1230 although sometimes you meet with your manager for a few minutes for the schedule. Don't stress over it. You have worked hard to get here just enjoy your time with paperwork cause once you are on the floor you will earn your money :)
