Man Nurse TN

I have been an LPN for a very short while. I have made the decision to go back to school and have decided that online would be best for me. I have looked at two different programs that interest me RUE and Chancellors. I was hoping that someone would have experience with one of those they would share with me. Rue is on the best practices list with Excelcier but will cost quite a bit more. Is anyone familiar with these two. Does it matter to have a more in depth class on the test that everyone seems to fail(clinical) because chancellors has that. I'm a little overwhelmed making this decision.
Anyway thanks for any replies

You can take the Chancellor's workshop without enrolling in Chancellor's. In addition, there are private CPNE workshops.
Rue and Chancellor's are just publishing companies. You do not need either to do the Excelsior online ADN.

Rue and Chancellors put out good study guides, but you can always get them on Ebay without signing a costly contract with the publishing company.

Totally agree! I bought Chancellors and College Network modules on Ebay for pennies compared to the original price and I didn't have to sign a contract. Do yourself a favor and don't sign because you will regret it! If you change your mind you cannot back out of the contract and you still have to pay them. I saw a post where Chancellors will garnish your paycheck if you stop paying.

So true Sue! Me and a friend of mine may decide to go but I really don't have the time at work to take off a week. I am going to Lynn workshop next month and it is alot more affordable.
what exactly would I be looking for? and don't they go out of date at some point? I would be more comfortable buying all of them at once.

Does nursing really change all that much from year to year? Some of the study guides I used were 7 or 8 years old, and they were still valid ... I got mostly A's on my exams, too. :)
It's up to you how you decide to proceed with this. My advice -- call and speak with someone from Excelsior before signing a contract with a third-party publisher.
Go to Ebay and type in "Chancellors" or "Excelsior College"
or "College Network". All the information is pretty much the same. I am under the new curriculum and used all the NC modules and did just fine.

Totally agree with you. I have used study guides as old as 10 years old and did just fine.

Looking at your name, I assume you are in TN. Did you know that there is an online nursing program through the community colleges?

Just thought I'd mention it. I'm applying for the spring 09 program and I've met a few others that are planning on applying for the spring or fall 09 program. I will say that it isn't accredited YET because it is brand new but I'm confident that it will be. I'm currently taking 2 RODP classes and I really like the set up. I'm planning on taking my CNA this fall through the same program.
Good luck
