Planned summer reading ? Good prep/study books for fall courses ?

Published

I am taking no brainer courses in the summer but want to study for my A&P classes I want to do next fall/winter. Any good sights to rec. for studying the sciences. Or Biology too. Thanks loads !

If I were you, I would check your library for Physiology books to read over the summer. See if they carry any text books. Otherwise, I would probably just go to Barnes and Noble and buy an extra book. But I learn better reading textbooks than reading online :)

Me too, but I can do computer ones at work, on the weekends when I have some time to kill too. I have to get an atlas I guess too. And just got over all the body parts one by one. Do you have to memorize alot of the body parts for A&P ? I took them in the 80's and forget. I need to get A's on these course's to bring up the old GPA. And they will do it too. Thanks !

Yes, in my Anatomy class we had to learn almost every single bone, muscle, foremen, etc.

I recommend Netter's Atlas. It is awesome. I also bought the flashcards. And I got an A in the class. Good luck - you sound determined and I bet you will do well.

Does Bay area mean San Fran Bay ???

I love California..we visited there last summer and loved it. I felt so good from the bright sunshine everyday. We stayed close to LA near Universal City Sheraton. I told hubby that when we retire, I want to live out there for a few years to experience other parts of the country. I live in New Jersey...nuff said. We are being taxed out of the state. Anyhoo we didn't make it up north just did the hollywood stuff. But it was wonderful. You are so lucky to have that sunshine. It just invigorates you everyday. We have grayish skies here and clouds. Not the skys you guys have. I felt good when I was out there ! Take care !

If it makes you feel any better I live in the LA area and there hasn't been any sunshine for quite a few days! I don't know what to do with myself in all this rain LOL, I grew up on the east coast and I am wondering how I ever survived out there now.

Is it the Santa Ana Winds making all ther rain out there ! I have to go to the Hollister store here to get my California fix !! They have that webcam of Huntington beach !! We are getting 60+ degree days thanks to those winds ! Are you still doing pre-reqs ? Or are you in school ? Not sure what I am going to do yet. Still taking classes though. Very competitive here. But we will see !!

We had some Santa Ana winds last week, but now it's just several storms from the north pushing down our way, we have had a ton of rain but they are now saying should be nice by the weekend,I am done with winter now hehehee, I like all the sunshine here!

I have finished my pre reqs I am starting Nursing Classes next week, so I am idlely filling my time on allnurses (my favorite place).

AP is a great class, it wasn't hard just a lot of memorization, if you can get a hold of a syllabus for your course that would help a lot. We basicly started off with Cells and Chemistry in AP1 and then moved through the systems from there. We focused on histology and bones and Muscles the first semester, then Nervouse, renal and immune after that with a few fun things like endo thrown in. I got AP for dummies before starting my course, it was pretty good, didn't really help but was good to get familiar with terms, I also had taken a pre ap course that was geared toward LVN's (the course I originally was shooting for).

goodluck!

I agree with you. this is a wonderful site. So many helpful people. you get sooooooooooo much help with class info., study sights online stuff. Just great. R u going for RN or LPN now ? How long have you been in Cali ? BYW we saw "the governator" when we went to Cape Cod this summer. He was walking down the street in Hyannis with Maria. Just strolling. And of course my cameras batteries WERE DEAD !!!!! Can you believe it !! :icon_roll

The "Incredibly Easy" series by Springhouse!

I have gone over the pathophysiology one and it has helped!
