Pinoy looking for study buddy

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I failed my NCLEX exam last week. I am having motivation issues, and looking for someone to study with. I graduated with BSN March 2008. I do not know what to do now. Need help!

Hi guys I'm about to start to review again but wondering were will I begin! I'm thinking to grab the best of the BEST review resources out there but what is it? Any suggestions? By the way this will be my second attempt to take this bloody exam so I really have to prepare myself completely both mentally and physically. Because we hate to FAIL! Let us share.

So far, the best in my opinion is to use Saunders questions (from the CD) and do 100 from each category as a pretest... then read your about your 3 lowest scores... then take a post test about those topics...

then do 100 items from each category, (safe and effective, psychosocial, etc)

then read about which is your lowest topic....

then retest with 100 items comprehensive...

if you are hitting 75% or higher, then you don't have much to worry about...

but do take notes about topics you missed and read about them...

for example, if the question you missed was about DIC, then make sure you read about DIC..

if you had to guess on a question about Swan-Ganz Cath,.. and happen to get it right, i think you should still read about the indications/expected outcomes for swan-ganz...

ok, that's my 2 cents. :)

i think i am more ready from the review of ncsbn, saunders, and the excell nursing review but im still low spirited when it comes to the pharma questions that i had from my first take of nclex :(

like i always say, 1. take the ncsbn the learningext that they offer for at least 5wks so whatever they try to trick u u know wat to answer them. 2. read saunders comprehensive for the step-by-step procedures. 3. pray and be physically fit. 4. if u can afford the nursing excell review (chicago based) the professors were filipino. they have it in cali and chicago. 5. la charity book, they all resembles the exam.but when ur weakness is alike like mine, i honestly dont know how to help u.

jabalos, when did u take ur exam?

i'm taking it in 19 days, 20 hours, 3 minutes and counting

i do about 30-50 pharma questions a day, in sets of 10 from Saunders software...

seems to be really helping... hope it manifests in 3 weeks

Hi str8balln!

Same scenario here...I failed NCLEX twice :crying2::crying2: took it on june 12 & august 08 both stopped at 75 question..having failed it twice makes me feel like its not really meant for me...Its been a year now since I got here in the US and more than two years since I graduated from nursing school in the Philippines...I thought of trying NCLEX-PN but not yet sure if thats possible so i brush it off my head...also considering saltmore advice of gettin' me CNA certificate so atleast I'll have some hospital exposure/experience for the meantime while preparing to retake NCLEX. Just like you I have all the review materials you'll ever need to pass that exam from Kaplan to Saunders to Hurst Live review to Pearson vue's Exam Cram to little handy nurses notes and to all other review paraphernalia but needless to say I dont have that much eagerness to study...now I'm enrolled at ATI-Virtual review and I'll try to stick with this one hopefully it'll make a difference this time...

hi nightingale_88

How did you go about the CNA certification?

Hi kabayans! Prayers goes out to all that are preparing for the exam. Im waiting on my att for now it will be my second try ny first try I failed big time. Hopefully this time around I will pass haist I need to pass so badly it will be a ticket to get out of my ****** life.

hi kababayan..anyone who passed the NCLEX RN here recently???

what's up flips?

another Filipino Murse here representin

took the NCLEX this morning in cali and it was my 2nd time.....i stopped @80.....

i was just about to go to bed...but damn computer egged me on to try the pearsonvue trick...

sadly Pearsonvue asked for my credit card...

just devastated right now.... i feel worse for my parents:(

ive got all the necessary tools with me to pass, but come studying time...i just feel alone and bored(sum people kinda work better if they're around other people....you know...like for competitiveness sake....it kinda revs me up).... and then i wait to procrastinate.....did me wonders back in college...but NCLEX has called my bluff twice now.

bottomline is I didn't apply myself to the fullest....i would've helped myself if i did.... deep inside my core there's anger coz I know i can pass this...but i just lack discipline...and i get distracted easily.

lulz hindsight IS really 20/20. ahh...soundin like a pathetic 24 yr old....

So....ATT expires on the 22 of this month....need to reapply for the Boards...=$350

jobless 24 yr old graduating as an Rn but cant pass the boards...F~!#$n priceless.....

Sorry for the rant...the man tears were welling up in my eyes, just needed to open up to a blank message board.

if anyone's in the general LA area and wants to chill, review, or just talk bout this currently insurmountable challenge...hit me up

Hi kababayan. Im from LA too. I'm starting my application process for NCLEX. failed twice and now im gonna try again. I need study buddy!!! =)
