I'm so glad you responded! I am waiting for my last transcript to arrive and will turn in my application in person tomorrow.
With the TEAS, I have the ATI study manual and McGraw Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exams book. I heard the ATI manual was a good review for everything but the science portion.
I took a dignostic test with McGraw and have been focusing on the math portion. I also need to brush up on grammar (ie what's a adverb, type of conjuction). I did well on the science except for physics (have never taken a physics class). Although I read on a thread on here that the TEAS V does not have much physics nor geology.
What about you? How do you feel about the study material? Are your friends enjoying the program?
I tried to research how many applications they usually recieve and didn't find anything. Do you know?
I have the ATI book, i heard it was exactly what was on the test, but I'm concerned about the science portion. I feel so unsure about it. Math, not so much, but I am worried about the time given to us.
My friend who took the teas passed without even studying in the 80th percentile. He seems satisfied with the program. Like any other RN program he says it's pretty hard, but anyone can do it.
I'm sure about the applications, but I do know he didn't get in for Spring but he did get in for Fall, which he told me most of the people who got accepted waited at most a year. Not bad.
I suggest you take Bio 3 and Chem 51 first, they are pre-reqs to the 3 core science classes: anatomy, physiology and microbiology.
Also, nursing programs even in community colleges are extremely competitive. Do you utmost to get A's in those 3 classes. B's in other pre-reqs such as eng, psych are fine but focus on the sciences. But remember, a high gpa in your core classes AND overall gpa is extremely important.
Wish you the best!

Thank you so much! I really pray that I can do this. How can I get As when I am working full time? Oh dear, negativity has no place in nursing school. I plan on taking sociology and math or english. I'll start with easy ones since it's been 15 years since college.

You can do it! Try taking bio 3 with sociology or english, or just one science class each semester + an easy class. It's manageable with good time management. I really recommend you at least sign up for either bio or chem now because it is extremely difficult to get classes these days; once the new budget cuts go into effect it will be impossible to get them in the semester you want.

Hi! I am hoping there's someone out there applying to Pierce College. I recently found out about their program (ironically, I am from the San Fernando Valley and have been driving across counties for pre-reqs). I am scheduled to take the TEAS V on March 28th with them. Anyone else? I'd love to hear from you!
