Hello everyone,
I wanted to start this thread because I am very interested in the Piedmont New Grad nursing residency program summer/fall 2014 in Atlanta. It will be nice if you could share your experience or share your thoughts about anything. Did anyone apply for the Summer/Fall program yet?
I've received nothing either. No phone call, email, snail mail, nada. Realistically, I think others have been chosen and for whatever reason we weren't considered and/or selected. It doesn't mean we are not qualified or good candidates though:smug: It just means this wasn't the job for us. We are meant to be angels somewhere else. Another door will open.
@RN_Student14....I graduated in December and took my boards in March. I had hoped to take them sooner but the bad weather and snow storms we had delayed things a bit. I took my exam at 2pm as well. I felt as though it was the perfect time...gives you time to wake up, have a good breakfast/lunch and relax before hand. I actually stayed at a hotel close to the test site the night before. That way I didn't have to worry about traffic and getting there on time. And I got away from everything at home so I could just relax. What study tools are you using?
Kaplan. I am utilizing all the tests and hard cover book for content. After graduation, I attended a NCLEX review for two days conducted by a Kaplan representative. How many questions did you get, how long did you test for, did it seem straight forward and what studying techniques did you use? @charlie2410
Our class did one of those review courses too but it was ATI. I received 83 questions and it took me about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 hours. I'm a slow test taker though. I was always one of the last ones to finish testing during nursing school exams. It's like no other test you've ever taken before. I don't know about you but when I started nursing school I had to revamp the entire way I took an exam because exams in nursing school were like no exam I had ever taken. It's a completely different approach!! Did you experience that as well? I purchased the NCSBN's Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination. It is AWESOME!!!!!!! I highly recommend it! I used it for content as well as for their great test questions. Of all the questions I used I felt as though the questions on NCSBN's were closest to the ones on the NCLEX. It had quizzes for each section as well as exams. In addition, I used the new Saunder's, the one that was just released in October or November of 2013, for content. I like Saunder's because it pulls out the important stuff that we need to know without all the fluff some other books tend to have. I also used the book Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment by LaCharity. This area is a big focus on the NCLEX and you will see it. I also used a phone app called RN Mentor. It is NCLEX style questions. Do you know about the test taking strategies in front of the Saunder's book?
I know we really haven't talked on here before but I am too awaiting to hear from Piedmont. My name is Jorge and am an out of state applicant from Colorado! Really just trying to focus on the NCLEX and stumbled upon this comment and I am glad! I steered away from Kaplan as it was expensive for studying... and am reassured I made the right choice by buying the NCSBN 5 week review! Reading your comment made me more reassured! I am only on day 4 but I love it! Learning a ton of content I don't even remember going over in nursing school! I am taking my boards early July so if there is any other advice you can give me, I appreciate it! I am really nervous, I just don't want to be that guy that gets a job lined up and cannot begin it because they didn't pass the first time!
I accepted the offer for the CV position.
I can provide some insight. In January of 2013 I applied for the residency at Piedmont. I wasn't ever able to get a definitive no, I tried calling and emailing. Needless to say, I didn't get the job back then. I've worked as an RN for a year and reapplied.
As a new nurse, I can't stress enough how important it is to work hard, get in the good graces of your managers, don't burn ANY BRIDGES and most importantly N-E-T-W-O-R-K!! Lets just say my networking skills at my current job have helped me immensly. Good luck to everyone and don't get too discouraged. I was in your shoes not too long ago.

I'm just not sure anymore :/ it's been a long time... Wonder if they hired others that just don't come on here?
