PICU Tennessee

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Does anyone work PICU in Tennessee? If so which parts and what is the pay there? Looking to relocate to the state and am very interested in the pay and benefits.

Thank you!

I am now living in Texas but can tell you that Memphis has two pediatric hospitals. St. Jude and LeBonheur. There are many other hospitals and some of them have PICU's. Memphis is situated at the Arkansas and Mississippi borders and not far from Missouri. They get patients from all over the mid-south. Lot's of opportunity there. Also, because of St. Jude there are tons of pediatric specialists in town and they practice in other hospitals besides St. Jude. I worked at LeBonheur and would do so again.

T.C. Thompson Childrens Hospital in Chattanooga has a PICU and pay depends on experience.

Hi, I know that pay depends on experience...but do you know how much the average nurse makes there? or maybe new grads? I am trying to come up with a dollar figure....kind of what is the going rate.

thanks for the reply.

I believe the going rate in this area is between $17 and $18/hr plus night and/or weekend shift diff.

PM me if you want the Nurse Recruiter's name and #.

In Knoxville UT and Children's have great PICU's. A little further away but one I had a great personal experience with, with my daughter was Mission Hospital (Billy Graham Children's Center). What she needed done was not available in Knoxville. I was willing to go anywhere- literally and was surprised when her neurosurgeon recommended Mission in Asheville.

wow!...that is ver LOW pay rates. is that for new grads?...( I hope!)

what hospital are you speaking of?

Going rate for FT new grads or minimal experience (1-2yr) in all Chattanooga area hospitals from what I hear.

Ok, so what do you think an RN with 8 years PICU exp would get?

Thanks!

Specializes in er, pediatric er.

I work at Monroe Carell Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. I am in the new grad training program. I start at 17.25, critical care pays $1 more, night shift pays $3 more and weekends are $6 more. The base pay is not the best but nights and weekends are good. The PICU has quite a few openings. Nurse patient ratio is 1:1 and sometimes it might be 2:2 with less sick kids. I love Vanderbilt. Also, gets all the pediatric hearts all over Tennessee. They do heart transplants and all the cardiac anamolies (sorry for the spelling). Hope this helps.
