Physiology??

Published

Hi,

Anyone taking Physiology only? Not physiology and anatomy. I don't know what possessed them , but in my school they offer physiology FIRST then you take Human Anatomy. It makes it really hard to understand physiology when you don't know anatomy as well. Thats why its taught together! But I can't leave the school now, so I have to make it through this class with B or an A.

Anyone else taking this course?

Our school teaches the courses separately, but anatomy is taught first.

I did like taking them as separate courses. I learned the anatomy much better I believe because I was able to focus on it and learned the anatomy of the entire body prior to starting to learn the physiology.

I cannot imagine taking physiology first.

There you go! Your school makes sense. I don't know why my school is like that, fancy university that doesn't care about their students? Perhaps.. I feel like transferring to the community college for next semester.

Lol sorry I'm venting >.

so i guess its odd to only take anatomy then phys eh... this won help but im taking anat by iself e1 is saying ap 1 and ap2 im like whats that mean.. good to know other schools do it seperately.. there was another thread which gave like quizzes on ap i thinkits called ap spring 2010 u should dl n review taht stuff i did its about 1k pages no joke it really is i suggestu do itat work i work in icu so i get away with it.. otherwise save and use it.. review the stuff it talks about every system from skin to endocrine to respiratory.. ill be posting some other links tht reviews micro and anat soon so keep watching

My school does it like that too. I'm currently taking physiology, and I haven't taken anatomy yet. I'm sure taking anatomy first would be helpful, but it is deffinitely doable if you can't. I don't know about your teacher, but mine teaches like the class doesn't know anatomy and it really isn't that bad at all. Good luck!

At my school, there is a choice of A and P together (either as one class of A&P or as seperate classes taken at the same time) or Anatomy first then Physiology. We can not take Physiology and then Anatomy. A few people take Anatomy by itself and then take the combined A and P. I took the A, then P because several of the universities around here require them as seperate course. I don't plan to transfer but I figure there is a reason for that requirement and in never hurts to keep options open. Also, the advisor said the A&P combined course is about 70% anatomy and 30% physiology (and is a 5 credit class vs the two 4 credit classes) so I think I'll learn more taking them seperately.

My school separates it into Anatomy, Physiology I and Physiogy II. Anatomy is a pre- or co-requisite of Physiology I. I'm taking both anatomy and the first physiology class this semester, and will be taking the second one in May/June. So far I'm not finding Physiology class to be too bad, but I upgraded a biology class last year, and have also taken Micro.

At my school can you can register for both anatomy and physiology in the same semester but they are two seperate classes. That's only if you're pressed for time and need to finish pre-reqs though, most take anatomy then physiology. It actually helped doing it that way to me because I don't think I would have been able to get an A if I had them as a combined class. I do find it odd that you take physiology first when you kind of need to know the physical function and location of muscles, bones ect in the body before you can understand how chemical changes occur in them...

I'm currently taking human physiology, and my school doesn't even OFFER anatomy. I'll have to take it somewhere else. It's frustrating to go to a liberal arts college where everyone is either pre-med or going to grad school for other things, and I sometimes feel like I'm the ONLY one dealing with stuff like this, because there are only 1 or 2 other pre-nursing students.
