after long struggle i got a job and my physical test is on next week .can any one tell me about physical test?what all tests they do?will they check height and weight ratio?thanks in advance
WOW-I cannot believe some of the workouts you all have been tested on! Situps! What does that have to do with nursing? Maybe it's just me, but I would probably complain!! I am all for working out and being in shape, but geezz! Who said that core strength would be a pre-req to landing a nursing job?
Ok, off to work for me :) Jen
They had me lifting 50 pds over my head
50 lbs OVER your head! That is so dangerous and hard on your cervical vertebrae. I think I would have refused that test.
If you ever have a physical for the VA it is quite intensive. They even x-ray your whole spine. I was working for a week before I even found out if I passed the physical. They also measure the range of motion in every joint in your body!

I'm in a very similar situation and I just had a physical test done today...basically they will test your arm, hand, and legs strenght(like you will be asked to pull up your legs and arms, hands while holding weights), they will check your balance,fitness,coordination...you will also be asked to lift up as much pounds as you can to determine if you are strong enough for the job using a proper body mechanics...like according to my job description I would have lift 20 pounds on regular basis,50 pounds from time to time and occasionally..I was also asked to do sit- ups in timely manners. Also dont forget to wear LOOSE cloths, trust me you will need to feel comfortable, have fun!!
