Does anyone have an idea of Prison Health Service's RN pay rates in Alabama (or Southeastern states)?
Any PHS nurses out there with advice? I have an interview Wednesday. It's for an HSA position.

Good luck on your interview! I have one today in Delaware. Money is just a part, granted a sizable part. Hope they make you happy!

I know they lost almost all, if not all of their contracts in Tennessee (which is where their home office is.

I am working for PHS. They took over in January they replaced Wexford. I make a little over twenty an hour. They are very cheap and when they took over at the facility I work in they let go of a lot of essential staff and over worked anyone that was left. It's to my understanding that they are leaving my facility in November...we don't know who will replace them. Make sure you do some serious research on this company before excepting the job. Presently, I only work for them per-diem.

I work for PHS in southeast AL also..There are only 3 so I can guess you are probably going to Ventress or Bullock!! The RN's where I work make 20/hr the DON makes 21/hr, and I have no idea what our HSA makes, I am a LPN and they start the LPN's off really well if a RN starts out at 20...Other places there is usually a $10 difference between LPN's and RN's, but here is not the case....I guess they need LPN's really bad!
I have been here 1 1/2 yrs and I love it!! I have a great HSA and DON who sticks up for their nurses!!
Good Luck on your interview!! I have friends at both of these camps and they seem to ike it as well!!

Wow! And we like to complain about salaries here in south florida...if a your facility... RNs are making $20 and hour then that means that LPNs are making about $10 that is ridiculous. Here in Miami LPNs are staring at $20 and RNs are getting $30 the DONs are making about $40 with PHS at my facility.
I know, it's a shame!! AL. sucks at , ummm, EVERYTHING!! Including pay, and education. They make it sooo hard to go from LPN to RN, they say no to on-line mobility degrees, which sucks b/c the nearest college with AAS degree is 1 hr away, and I HAVE to work 40 hrs. Anyway, I have made it to almost $16/hr with PHS, WHOHOO! I need my FL license b/c I work with an agency also and they have asked me numerous times to travel to NW FL for lik $25/hr!

CMS just got the contract for Alabama. I am an HSA with them. Don't do it with them! PHS was here before CMS took over and I hear it was a much smoother operation. I am not sure about the pay in Alabama, because every state is different, but in my state, it is terrible for the HSA.
