Philly area, associates or bachelors preferred?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hello all,

I discovered tonight that this topic has pretty much been beaten to the ground, sorry to bring it up again! But in reading old threads it seems one of the best reasons to go for your bachelors is if you live in an area where hospitals prefer it. In Philadelphia and it's suburbs, does anyone know if there's any preferance for nurses with a bachelors? Otherwise, I think it'd work best for me to get an associates.

Thanks. :)

Specializes in Post Surgical.

The University of Pennsylvania hospital is the only one in the area that I know of that requires a BSN to work

Specializes in ICU, CM, Geriatrics, Management.

I would imagine nearly all facilities would prefer to hire a better educated RN... with a bachelors, masters, MBA,etc.

Specializes in Education, FP, LNC, Forensics, ED, OB.

Please, let's stay on the topic of Philly area, associates or bachelors preferred?

Do not debate the horse that has been beaten so badly that a glue factory will not accept the remains: The ADN vs BSN/MSN.

Thank you.

HUP is the only place I know of too. But that changes back and forth like the tide.Five years ago they hired them. Five years before that they didn't . Go figure.
