Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

I like you more and more each time I hear from you Kuklara! You're right, everyone is too serious but the waiting is making it hard not to be. I plan on calling tomorrow sometime to check on the status of my application again. I figure if I hound them enough they'll accept me just so they don't have to hear from me anymore!

I think I'm either out of the picture or on the waiting list bc I called again and the minute she heard my last name (and remembered my first) she was like you should probably contact ms. PS directly or wait until after may 1st. That's really weird bc she checks other people's status'

I just spoke to MG. She asked me my last name and I told her and she didnt even put my on hold its like she knew my name last name and immediately told me it was being reviewed.

Stinson - my last name starts with a G. Maybe they do the review process alphabetically and maybe thats why when you called and as soon as you said your last name they told you to try after May 1st that would be when they are up to your name?

I doubt it... since I was told that I was in the first batch when I gave in my application...whatever...

I've applied t o other programs as well... have you guys applied to other prgrams in ny?

Well if this helps you feel any better, my last name starts with an R and when I called last week they said my file awas being reviewed so they are definitely not going in abc order. They do accept people on a rolling basis but maybe what they are doing is waiting for more applications to compare. If you were out they would've told you. There's no reason to make you wait for a "no". Try not to stress Stinson. At least you have the other program to fall back on.

Ok, I just called and some girl answered MG's line. She said my application wasn't in the pile she had and she didn't know where it was. (this makes me feel great by the way) So I decided to call MS's line. I left a message so hopefully she'll call me back soon. The girl that answered MG's line did say that they were waiting until April 1st for all the applications to be in and then they were going to start calling to schedule interviews. Keep those heads up ladies!! We should ALL be getting a call soon!

Man guys u r lucky to have mg answer the phone! I called and left a message friday and didn't hear back I don't want to be annoying at all by constantly calling and finding out my status. Aaahhhh I hope they are just waiting for Apr 1st..if it wasn't for u all being able to get in touch I wouldn't know what to do haha. U are all keeping me sort of sane :).

Awww, thank you Starlette :) I'm trying to keep it together here but in all honesty, I feel like I'm gonna go crazy! I don't get this April 1st thing. They said at the open house they accept people on a rolling basis so if that's true why do they have to wait til April 1st to start scheduling interviews? I don't get it.

i don't get it either....i know in previous years like last year, if you turned in your application and took one of the first NLN tests you had an interview in march at least...or so that was the story with one person...i'm afraid to call and ask because i don't want to be a pest, but i also want to make sure my application is being handled haha.

I read through that thread. I was so hopeful that someone would hear something by now. I'm starting to get a little discouraged. That is exactly why I don't understand what's going on this year. I keep calling too. They're going to get so sick of me but I figure if I do that they could see that I'm super serious about getting in. Maybe it will give me some brownie points. So funny that you mention about the application being handled correctly, I keep having dreams that they lost mine!
