Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

yeah we have tuition reimbursement so i am going to take advantage haha. that's kind of why i wanted to work and go to school. it's just a better choice for me. I've definitely contemplated getting it all over with in a year and getting paid more by the end of it but i mean i just dont think i can do it financially.

congrats on your interview starlette! lets us know how it goes!!

thanks everyone! i'll def keep everyone posted!

Starlette Congrats!!! OMG I just grabbed my cell to see if I have any missed calls (Which I dont) and turned the volume sky high. I think I'm going to attach it to a rope and tie it around my neck so I cant misplace it LOL (I'm just kidding)

You must be so excited! WOW I am so excited for you!

From what everyone has heard in the past does this interview mean that yuu are actually accepted and they just want to meet you or doed it mean it is an actually interview and they are still deciding if you are accepted or not?

Good for you Scarlette and keep us all posted....hopefully we'll all get a call and bump into each other on Wednesday. I hope I get a call o man my fingers are crossed...lol Starlette what are you going to wear the interview lol

Thanks Kuklara! I have just been trying to ignore the anxiety ever I am SOOOO extremely excited! Reading previous posts from previous years it seems like once you get an interview you are pretty much in but not necessarily accepted, some people got an unofficial yes and others were told they would have to wait. Hopefully that is still true! My fingers are crossed for all of you as well!

not sure what i'm going to be wearing to the interview, def business casual..not sure if i want to wear pants or a skirt/dress. we'll see!!! also depends on the weather. lol. AAHHH so much excitement!

I think you're right Starlette. At least it looks that way. Besides, when I went to the open house the assistant dean did say if you get an interview you're pretty much in. So nice to hear that someone heard something. I was starting to lose hope. Congrats again!

I have a bad feeling about me getting in LOL

I've been calling all week and they said my application was being reviewed...I am guessing obviosusly Starlette's was too.

I didn't get a phone call =(

yeah well you should feel good bc i was told to wait until may she didn't even want to tell me it was being reviewed

This is my first time on this website and have to say that it is a great resource and outlet. I can understand your emotional ups and down with the entire admissions process, but I say KEEP AT IT! I am a first year student at PBSIN (I know, I should be studying!!). The process is intended to truly find those individuals that want to become a nurse, individuals that can handle the stresses of the study (nursing school is a different type of studying), and people that are not in it just for monetary gains. I have heard of some people getting their acceptance letters in June. Once accepted, you will be glad because it is a great school and they want to see you succeed! So, keep your SPIRITS UP!

Also, for those of you interested in a timeline. I took my NLN exam less than 2 weeks before the scores were due at PBISN. I interviewed just before May and was accepted 2 weeks later.

Starlette,

Being new to this website, I apologize for not being so savvy about the private messages. I am in the ATOP program because I have all of my preqs. except for Nutrition and Diet Therapy and Pharmacology. Classes and lab are on thursday and fridays, while Clinicals are on saturdays.

Congrats Starlette !! Everyone, I suggest you don't stress yourself out too much.

Jsinyc, thanks for your input. I am scheduled to take my test two weeks before the May 1st deadline. So your post gave me hope that it's not too late. They received my application already so I'm hoping that I will be a candidate based on my essay/gpa/reference letters alone. I am studying hard for the NLN and I am so intimidated by the practice questions/time restrictions  While I am not the best test taker, my heart is set for this Nursing school. I truly hope that admission is based on everything else and not just the NLN test.

Again, GOOD LUCK everyone !!!
