Phillips Beth Israel Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....

Lol, OSuro. You got that right! That's what this website is for. Everyone needs a pick me up sometimes. Glad you're feeling better! :D

Hi everyone, how are we notified of our test scores?

They mail you a copy of them. If you didn't get it you could request one by going onto the nln website. You have to print out the form, sign it and then email, fax it, or mail it back. I think its like $20 or $25.

Any news, ladies?? None so far on this end...

I'm getting so annoyed with this waiting. This is borderline stupid the way they make us wait. Just say on the phone whether we're accepted or not. Obviously they have an idea because either they are planning on calling you for an intervirew or you're getting sent a rejection letter - they obviously know by now because May 1st is less than 2 weeks away ***!!

Lol I don't mean to be moody but its like come on already how many months have we been waiting

Well I have some info ... I just called and she told me we would know by May 1st. I told her I knew they were calling to interview people and if I was not on the list to get a phone call if she could please let me know because I know my application was reviewed over a month ago.

She told me that the way they do their acceptance is the first thing they do is look at the NLN score and they start at 99 and go back. If someone got a 99 they will get an interview and get accepted except ofcourse if their grades are horrible. Being that I got an 82 on the test she does not know if the committee will choose me to get an interview despite the fact that my GPA is 4.0 because they look at the NLN score FIRST, then they look at your grades. She had they have hundreds of applicants and alot of people did very well on the NLN.

ANyways I am now officially convinced I did not get in but its OK...atleast now I have an answer I believe

I am with you Kuklara, extremely frustrated! The waiting is a bit ridiculous now but what's 2 more weeks after we waited a month and a half? I don't think I'm getting in either. I scored in the 88th/89th percentile. We'll just have to WAIT and see!

You're right 2 more weeks left...I don't think I'll get an interview though - my score was too low but its OK. Hopefully you will get a call!

Kulara, I just sent you a PM

I specifically remember them saying they take EVERYTHING into account when reviewing your application. If that's the case then they are no different than any other nursing school because all of them review your application that way. :crying2:

Exactly. I said to her specifically, "I have a 4.0 dosnt that count for anything" and she said "It does count however they start their acceptances by whoever got a 99 on the NLN and they work their way down. If someone did well on the NLN but does not have good grades then that person will not get accepted and they move on to the next application."

I said to her, so if all the people in the 90s get accepted then my 4.0 really dosnt mean anything, all that matters is that test grade.

She said that she does not make the decision that the committee makes the decision but unfortunately thats how they do it.
