Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has applied to the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in NYC for the coming year? I am looking to get into their part-time evening program that would begin in Spring 2011. I'm taking the NLN this Wed and really nervous about it, really just the verbal part....
That is a very good point OSuro. I'm just trying to find a way to explain all this waiting. I tried calling MG a little while ago and got no answer. I will try and call back later. Keeps those hopes up ladies. We should be hearing from them soon.
Starlette, keep us posted on your 2nd interview. Good Luck!!
Good Morning everyone!
You should check out the "Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing?" thread- it's from a few years ago, but it's what we're going through now. There were only 850 applicants and 130 seats available in 2008, I can imagine how much the competition has grown.
Based on reading the thread, it confirmed some of my suspicions of this whole "decisions will be done in May" thing. Someone on that thread faxed over their NLN scores since their app. was being reviewed and got a call 2 days later. Same thing happened to me, and then MG told me that I have to wait until May. This just confirmed that I wasn't accepted :-(.
I feel like such a negative Nelly and I'm really sorry if I'm bringing anyone down. This doesn't apply to all of us, just me.
If anyone has a story that MG told them BI will be making decisions in May after being told your application was being reviewed AND got an interview in May, your posts will be greatly appreciated!!
Don't go by something that happened to someone else two years ago. They may have changed their system since then. Even last year's threads are like that. There was one girl that got an interview in March and got an informal acceptance in April. All the rest didn't get interviews until the middle of April and a few didn't get their acceptance until June. One even got an acceptance letter in August so don't worry. It's only April 14th. We still have a ways to go. Keep your head up and pray. Prayer always helps. It's the one and only thing that is keeoing me somewhat sane right now.
Oh, I just remembered, they have changed their system a little. Starlette got called for an interview 2 weeks ago and she's going for another one today. A student of BI said that that was "odd" because last year they only did one interview per applicant but now they are doing two for the ATOP/evening programs. See, things have changed a little so try not to worry so much. Who knows what else they have changed.
hi all, i met with the dean today and the 2nd interview for ATOP/evening people are pretty much asks about my work schedule and really is just to make sure they get the whole picture of the person...it really made me think about the schooling and working - how difficult it will be. that's pretty much why they've added a second interview. to make sure applicants are FULLY aware of what they're getting themselves into with the ATOP/evening programs.
and MG wasn't answering today because she was off today! i would try again tomorrow. i'm not sure when she is supposed to come back. did anyone try emailing her? maybe she has an out of office message up.
regarding the reviewing of applications, the current student that posted said that she had everything in by may 1st and got a letter by may 12th and otehrs were accepted as late as june, so they may not be completely reviewing everything until may 1st...i still wouldn't give up hope.
Osuro,
i remember in one of the previous threads one of the applicants had poor grades/withdrawals (basically a similar situation) on her transcripts. She was able to write a letter regarding her situation and i think she ended up being on the waiting list? i would read through the threads but i believe that's what happened with her. so you might be able to appeal or something??? dont give up hope...
Starlette,
Congrats again on the 2nd interview and I can' thank you enough for your last thread! I'm going to write a letter directly to BS and hand deliver it to MG on Friday. Thank you for letting me know that. Thank you EVERYONE for all your positive posts!! I hope we're all accepted- we'll take BI by storm!

Hi Jay,
I think MG can't tell you because they're afraid of getting enraged students banging down their door, and sending it in writing is according to protocol. I don't think MG would be allowed to tell you their decision because she's just the messenger and it has to come from the dean. Kind of like when you have to go see the doctor in person for bad results, they refuse to tell you over the phone.
