I was just wondering if there were any PHCC applicants out there just waiting for June/July, and what were your NET scores like? I guess I am trying to get a feel for what the "competition" is like?
Is anybody a new student at PHCC either North or West Campus? What are your feelings about the program? Any regrets or thinking you would have rather gone somewhere else?
I just took the NET on Friday and am debating if I need to retest; got a 97 on math and 73 on comp and 85 on written expression. I put in the app for North and West just to see if I can get on the alternate list; I doubt I will be getting in this go around since it is my first time applying but gotta start somewhere.
Cannot wait to hear from some locals, Liz
Question for someone who was accepted:
When is the deadline for returning the form that came with your acceptance letter?
Wapiti ~ The deadline is June 30th for the RN. Although, I am not sure what the LPN date is. I assume it would be similiar since all programs start on the same day.
Have a great day!
Hey, I was just wondering, for those of you who are fin. aid candidates, what does Career Central offer? Do they offer anything over and above or different from the Pell Grant, FSAG, etc.?
A friend of mine used Career Central a few years ago when she was in the LPN program, but she can't really explain it to me.
I am currently waiting for fin. aid to send me a confirmation of my application and the rest, but I think there may be some issue going on that I am unaware of because it is taking way too long. Anyway, I don't think I will get full fin. aid, and I am wondering what other options there are out there.
Thanx in advance, Liz
Liz,
I have my appointment for the Career Central thing on July 2nd. I spoke with the lady (Ailene) today. She explained to me that you qualify by either meeting the income requirements or by being on unemployment. I qualify by the income. For a family of four you can't have over 30-something thousand in the last 6 months.
She set up for me to come in with tons of required documents and to sign papers. She explained that she thinks she can use my NET scores so that I don't have to take the TABE. Anyway, she said that the most a person can get is $1500 (this is a lifetime amount). She explained that most people deduct the amount of the boards so they don't have to worry about paying for them later.
Anyways, that's all I got... I can fill ya in more when I know more.
HTH! Have a great day.

Hey guys. I got into the LPN program, but not the RN program. :/ It's kind of a bitter sweet feeling. I wanted to be accepted into the RN program so badly, but with my reading scores in the high seventies, what happened was inevitable. Well congratulations to all that were excepted into a program. For the ones that weren't, have faith and don't give up. This wasn't my first time applying, perseverance is key.
I have a couple silly questions, which hopefully someone can answer. I tried asking a girl at the front desk at student services my questions, but she said that they would be explaining all of that at the orientation. Which basically meant she had no clue.
I was wondering when and how are you suppose to register for classes, if you were excepted into a program? After orientation, are the classes automatically assigned? I'm registered for courses that aren't part of the graduate nursing program, I'm guessing I should go onto wise and drop them.
I also was wondering if anyone knew anything about the bridge program at PHCC. I tried to find more information about it on the school's website, but didn't find the answers I was seeking. Is the bridge program hard to get into? What are the requirements for the bridge program? Is the bridge program limited access like many of other programs offered at PHCC? Any info. you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Gummybear06,
Maybe look at the bright side: you get in and out in a year, can get a job and get your foot in the door somewhere, and bridge over later. Then you already know what it is like at the company you are with and then when you are done with bridging, you know how to be an RN but you also have nursing experience. Then when you look for a job as an RN you got the wholer package, experience and schooling. HTH you feel better!
What campus are you at? Did you say? I didn't catch it. I will be at the brooksville campus. It would be nice to see you there!
:yeah:I say Congrats! cause it's still a great accomplishment!!!!!!!!
Angel
Thank You for your kind words Angel, that's very sweet of you to say. I agree that it is somewhat of an accomplishment. Because their are many that weren't accepted. I also know what it feels like not to get into any program. It can be heart breaking. I actually transferred to PHCC from USF. I had tried to get into the USF program for several years, I also applied to HCC, and a few other schools. I even almost resorted to going to South University at one point, but I had some sense knocked into me when I was told their tuition. I suppose I should feel fortunate to get into a program at all.
I'll be attending the New Port Richey Campus. Thanks again.
Gummy, just thought I might add that a friend of mine will be bridging over, and she found out the bridge program only runs 7 months! That must be severely intense, but of course, my hubby says, "No, way! The paramedic program is WAY harder, and you're responsible for pushing WAY more meds!" Whatever! 7 Months still seems so short to me, but what do I know.
I will be at NPR campus, too. I hope I won't be going broke for school, but I gotta suck it up.
Liz

Smashley and Gummybear,
According to the application packet, preference is given to residents of Pasco and Hernando Counties. If you live in either of those counties I think that chances are very good that you were accepted (or at least put on the waitlist) because I was chosen as an alternate and I don't live in either county.
Question for someone who was accepted:
When is the deadline for returning the form that came with your acceptance letter?
