PHCC Hopefuls for spring 09
Um.....thanks! :uhoh21: What handbook are you referring too? I have read repeatedly that residents are given preference; however, I have never seen it specifically written that all in-district students will be accepted before out of district students are considered. Last semester, I assumed that might be the case until someone got mad at me for being wait-listed. It then became clear to me that they only meant that the selection criterion is more stringent for residents of other counties. I understand that you are disappointed, but do you have any appreciation for how your comments might have made me feel? I actually applied to PHCC because it is the nearest school, not because I could not gain acceptance into a program in my county.

Have you taken the CPT yet? If you score well on that test, you might be able to complete the prerequisites in one semester. Otherwise, you would need additional time for math and/or reading classes. Similarly, it might take longer if you take the prerequisite courses at a school that insists that you must take biology before enrolling in A&P. I don't think PHCC has that requirement.

PHCC Pre-req Question
I believe that it means the courses are not required; they just suggest that you take them before enrolling in HUN. If you find that you are unable to take it at PHCC, try Florida Community College at Jacksonville. They do not have any prerequisites.

PHCC Hopefuls for spring 09
I live out of district and I was accepted into the spring RN program. My GPA was 4.0, my reading comp. score was 85, and the only co-requisites that I have not completed are ethics and microbiology. I was also wait-listed last semester. At that point my gpa was 3.8 (the prerequisites have since been changed) and I had not completed A&P II, microbiology, or sociology. I submitted the same NET scores both times. I hope this helps, when I first applied I had no idea if I had any chance of being accepted.

Kay1982, I was chosen as an alternate last semester and the only information that I was able to obtain from the school was that they choose 10 alternates. They were not able to tell me where I was on the list. Wish I could be more help.

PHCC has finally added the orientation date for both nursing programs to the event calendar. It looks like it will be on December 11th from 8:00 to 12:00 for the LPN program and 1:00 to 5:00 for the RN program. Have any of you completed the cpr class yet?

PHCC LPN Applicants/ New Students
Smashley and Gummybear, According to the application packet, preference is given to residents of Pasco and Hernando Counties. If you live in either of those counties I think that chances are very good that you were accepted (or at least put on the waitlist) because I was chosen as an alternate and I don't live in either county. Question for someone who was accepted: When is the deadline for returning the form that came with your acceptance letter?

PHCC LPN Applicants/ New Students
I'm not sure if my letter came today because I'm away from home right now but, I wanted to say congratulations to those of you that got accepted and thanks for sharing what you have learned from your phone calls to the school! I'm sorry if I caused anyone any extra anxiety by mentioning that the school changed my major in WISE. I really jumped the gun on that one. :imbar Gummybear06, student services told me that you only select a campus before applying to the LPN program. For the RN program, they decide at orientation who gets to go to which campus. I suppose that might mean that some people may have to attend classes at a campus other than their first choice.

PHCC LPN Applicants/ New Students
Sometime this afternoon my major was changed from awaiting/Nursing-generic to Associate in Arts. I'm assuming that means I was not accepted but perhaps I'm reading to much into it. I think someone posted awhile back that you are not officially in the program until you return a form that comes with your acceptance letter. Maybe there is still hope. Good luck to everyone!
