I was just wondering if there were any PHCC applicants out there just waiting for June/July, and what were your NET scores like? I guess I am trying to get a feel for what the "competition" is like?
Is anybody a new student at PHCC either North or West Campus? What are your feelings about the program? Any regrets or thinking you would have rather gone somewhere else?
I just took the NET on Friday and am debating if I need to retest; got a 97 on math and 73 on comp and 85 on written expression. I put in the app for North and West just to see if I can get on the alternate list; I doubt I will be getting in this go around since it is my first time applying but gotta start somewhere.
Cannot wait to hear from some locals, Liz
jrw63,
I know, me too. I was really looking forward to knowing sooner than later. I am trying to get help paying for school and more importantly daycare for my two babies but need an acceptance letter to get much more. I got the pell grant but barely enough to pay for school, let alone anything else. I was going to try the WIA thing at Career Central. I'm still waiting to hear about PHCC's scholarships. The daycare grant doesn't come out until we start the program in August and only pays at most $750 a semester towards childcare (that's a drop in the bucket).
Augghhh. I really hate waiting. I'm a planner and want to know what my life is going to be in just over 2 months!!! LOL
*** If anyone knows any secret money tricks, Please let me know. I don't qualify for DCF help because I have Food but not Cash assistance and I don't qualify for CDS help because I will be in school not at work... I am sure it'll work out but if you know something I don't I would REALLY appreciate it.
TTYL and good luck friends!!!!
Angel
Angel,
I have heard about Career Central, but not too much else. I do not have any kids so I have no info about childcare. Sorry! I have talked with financial aid and they advised me to apply for scholarships. I do not know how I can apply for something when I am not even sure if I will be accepted in to the program. I did it ayway, but have not heard anything. I guess it will be loans for me if I get in.

anyways, lynn, the net is not hard at all but you really do need to focus on everything the study guide includes. the first time around i got in the 60s on my reading and writing with a total composite in the 70s and the second time (after studying extensively) i got in the high 80s on reading writing and 100 on math, putting me in the 90s for a total. they place you by your score so studying is vital to getting in.
good luck!!! hope that helped!!!

Good afternoon,
This is the only thread I have found for PHCC. I have applied for the RN program for this fall. I was just curious if anyone has received a letter yet?
FYI: Also, the pre-reqs for Jan '09 admission to the RN and bridge programs changed a bit. In the generic Rn program (2 yr) Microcomputer applications has replaced English Comp I. It is another course I SHOULD have done this summer just in case I don't get in this fall!
I called PHCC (west campus) yesterday to ask about the RN acceptance letters for the fall. Admissions office said they would "hopefully" be sent out by the end of this week. I am going crazy waiting for my letter. I just want to know one way or the other. Good luck to everone waiting for a letter. Hopefully by at least next week we will all know our fate.
Thanks Diana!
I have a friend who said she spoke with the West campus (operator) and was told there was a delay in the letters and they won't go out for another couple weeks! But when I called, I spoke with a guy (in admissions) who said they were working on them & we should receive them no later than next week. Crazy!!
im soooooooo stressed waiting for a yes or no from phcc west campus for aug. i really hope they don't give priority to people who have applied previously. i don't think that is the case, but you never know. i don't know when we are suppose to get our letters but the suspense is killing me!!!! hope to see ya all there in Aug!
