PHCC Fall 2010 (LPN/BRIDGE/RN)

Published

Hi all :)

I decided to start a new thread since the last one has something like 275 comments. It's a tad overwhelming!

Any questions, concerns, comments, etc regarding Pasco-Hernando Community College's programs? This is your thread:nurse:

We have decided on a meeting time and place. Here are the details:

When: Saturday evening, July 17, 7pm til whenever.

Where: Brass Tap in Wiregrass

Why: Faces to usernames :) lol--Seriously, won't it be great to meet the people who have been stressing out with us for the past several months?

If you have questions about the plan, feel free to pm me :) Also, if anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to recognize one another, feel free to share!

Jenn

RN-to-be...

Not yet Kchandler, they said no final decisions have been made yet but they hope to know either today or tomorrow. I have an appt to do paperwork, too, but they made it very clear that they have to have WIA approved before any final decisions are made. :/

Goodluck MJ and Kchandler!! I hope you both get it! :)

I watched the first dvd for basic nursing skills in its entirety and skimmed through the RN notes flip book. Then looked at the study guide for Fundamentals. Feeling a little overwhelmed, not going to lie....

I have pretty much everything except the course manual and a few of the other required books but I'll pick them up Monday. Didn't feel like going back today for them. I have my two uniforms except for shoes because they didn't have my shoe size in stock. I think tonight I'll do more reading and some note taking. I don't feel ready for this!

FWIW - I did see Nursing Fundamentals up on Angel, though we can't access it until the first day!

I saw that our instructor is Pat Oles, but in Wise it says Vowels. So do we have a different instructor for clinicals only but all West Campus students will have Pat Oles for lecture? That would be nice because I have a few friends that aren't doing sponsorship and were sad we weren't going to be in the same classes. Maybe just clinicals is 12 students per instructor but lecture is 24 students together, would make sense.

Sorry just overthinking like I always do lol.

I have my Appointment tomorrow with Career Central.....I tried to go last Friday after my interview but was given the run around. I had a ton of paperwork with me that they might've need. They wanted me to go today but I am working so they set it up for tomorrow I did email my WIA paperwork and Pay stubs to the lady I am supposed to meet with tomorrow. I think I'll be good as long as I know what's up before the weekend.

Yaz can't wait to get my books and take a peek at them.

Wow, what a hassle with the sponsorship....I'm glad I didn't go to the interview. There really would have been absolutely no benefit for me, especially if they let Pell cover expenses before they pay up.

Supposedly on the 16th we can go get our supplies and such from the bookstore on our Pell :) I am looking forward to getting my books! Although, I am not happy about watching my Pell dwindle down to nothingness...because like someone mentioned before, it goes in my pocket, too. But...I am not going to complain ;)

I am so overwhelmed with work and life right now, so I hope there is a lull before school commences....I am already planning my track to MSN (hopefully) after licensure. I'm "on to the next one"...already haha.

Ummm....just wanted to say hi to everyone, really.

Hi!

I don't feel ready for this!

You are not alone!! :uhoh3:

From the course handbook, it looks like we are all over the place in the Fundamentals (Potter & Perry) book in the first and second weeks. First day is "Class Orientation" and we have no required reading, just bring the course manual. After that it's 1-3 chapters/day. :nurse:

Other than that: Busch Gardens tomorrow, dive trip Sat/cook-out Sat night, tubing on Rainbow River Tuesday, Venice Beach another day next week, and then my birthday the 21st. Yeah, I'm cramming in as much FUN as possible before it's time to buckle down! No stressing allowed between now & then! (I'm trying not to anyway) :jester:

Hi Evansmum!

Dear Isiah,

This is a little off topic from the original post, I'm trying to send you a message but I don't know how to use this website yet, lol >.

I got the Bayonet Point sponsorship!!! Now I have a question for others who are going to be in my section, how do we register for it and what are the days we will be in class? I used to have Mondays off at the East campus, but what is Bayonet Point's schedule like? Are Fridays off? Please let me know asap because I have to register for A&P2 today on WISE and I don't know what times to choose.

Thanks! And I'm so excited! Sorry to not be with my East campus peeps, though :(

Congratulations, MJ! If all of your paperwork is done, WIA will pay your tuition without you having to do anything (just make sure the school still has you registered for classes). For books and supplies, you have to go to the bookstore and have them fill out a form that lists everything that is required for the program, fax that to Career Central and within a few days, Career Central will pay the business office. Then you need to go to the business office or bookstore to make sure the funds are on your account (using your ID card) and then buy what you need. The process is a pain but hopefully will go smoother for people next week than it did for us this week!

Our schedule is the same as East Campus. Mondays off, and school Tuesday through Friday.

Hope this helps.

Melissa

Thank you!!! I wonder when I can go to the bookstore, then, because they are sending my signed contract over today to get processed.

Once the money is in PHCC's system, it should show up on WISE under "Financial Aid Summary". I would check there first before going to school.
