PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

MamaBerry,

Master??? LOL

Congratulations! You'll be really busy, LPN is not so easy!

Emailing the package is new, first time. For the Spring we got it still be post. They'll start emailing after receiving your confirmation of accepting the seat. It took 1-2 weeks for the mail, but since it is emailed now, might not take that long.

Good luck!

Sorry, its a very OLD reference. I would be Grasshopper to you ;) Was completely out of respect, i promise. My age is showing :)

thanks! Will start RN not LPN, but kudos to the hard working LPN students!! Whew!

thanks for all the insight you give on this thread. Its very helpful. Have a great night.

I love you. That was supposed to be a reply to whoever called today.

I noticed on the schedule for west campus assuming that's where I am going, they have a 9-10:30 fundamentals class on Tuesdays and also a 10:40-1:00. Same goes for Clinicals on Thursdays and Fridays 7-11 and another time from 11:30-4. They have two sets of that schedule, totaling four classes, with two different teachers. Do you think that we can pick which time works best for us? And is the reason there are so many different classes because how many students in the program? I didn't know the classes would be so big. I thought it was just 36?

This is my assumption so hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong but - it is one class -the gap between 10:30 and 10:40 is a break and the gap between 11:00 and 11:30 is a lunch break....so it's not 2 classes a day.

Again, that's my guess.

ScarletJones,

That's correct. They'll give you 10 minutes after each hour in lecture & 1 hour lunch break from 11:30 to 12:30.

Clinicals at the campus is flexible with breaks since you all will be up and practicing skills, etc.. but still get 1 hour lunch break. First 4-5 weeks is 8 am to 4 pm (usually you're done around 3), but at the hospital is 6:45 to 12:00 and then you all go for lunch and have you post conference after lunch and go home, usually around 2:00.

Thanks for clarifying, Nuscha :)

Good luck to all waiting on letters today!!!! I'll be stalking.

Nushca - Do you remember how much the Potter&Perry book was at the bookstore and if it came with anything (like a bundle or cd's)?

I found a brand new book for $80. I want to get it soon and start reading before classes start in August.

Hey everyone. I am one of the "stalkers" that has been reading this for a while now. Congratulations to everyone who got in! I was planning on applying here for spring, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me this. As far as the prereqs go to get in, do they have to be completed by the application deadline, or will they accept you upon the condition that you finish with the appropriate grade? I assume they will not, because they would need your grade to factor your prereq gpa, but I just figured I would ask. I have all of the prereqs done with the exception of CGS1100, which my current college does not offer. I didn't know if they would do a course substitution or anything like that, and I can't get through to anyone at the college to answer my questions. Thank you!! Congrats again to everyone who got in! :)

Hi there - you have to have all 5 pre-reqs complete before you can apply. Have you looked into another school that offers that class online? I took it with SPC online - it was an 8 week class...very easy.

Edited to add - even if you were to do the 8 week class you wouldnt make the application deadline in time for January admission. :(
