i'm a little worried since i'm going to be going to umhb next spring (to finish final pre-req of statistics and i have to take an intro to nursing class before i can enroll in the program) and they don't require a formal pharmacology class for their program. should i take one anyway to get ahead in my other classes? once i enter the nursing program their curriculum is based heavily on nursing of differing age groups like peds and adults and there will be one class in management. what do you guys think?

I must say, it is extremely hard, but it is a good class to have. I just regret taking it in such a short semester. The instructor said this was the last summer they are going to do that. She said from now on, they were going to stretch it out over the whole summer.

My cousin is currently in a program that doesn't have a distinct, official pharmacology class. Instead, they integrate pharmacology into the curriculum. She told me that she understands why they do it that way, but she also wishes she took a pharmacology class anyways prior to starting the program... she's planning to take one afterwards. If it won't be too much of a burden on your time and semester load, you might want to consider taking it... but if other students have gone through the program successfully without having taking that extra pharmacology class beforehand, you shouldn't worry too much about fitting it into your current schedule (if it's already full).

My question would be is it going to make sense to you without some nursing or pathopysiology background? It might be too confusing and hard without it. Most programs don't start out with Pharm. but patho. and other courses and then pharm later on.
Good luck.
