Pharmacology and Pathophysiology at same time?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about Pharmacology and Pathophisology? I was planninig to take these classes via the internet this summer but found out that they are both offered in Summer I instead of one of them offered in Summer I and the the other in Summer II.

So, how hard are they and what all is involved? Would I be better off taking just one class this summer and then taking the other one when I take A&P II this fall?

Any advice is appreciated. I don't know much about either class except that some math is involved in Pharmacology. I have no problem with math and made an A in college algebra very easily.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi,

I took these classes online at the same time, though it was during a full semester, not a summer semester.

I liked taking them together, they go hand in hand in many ways. It was especially great when i was covering the same organ or system in both classes and could use each class as a reference for the other.

Both of these classes are alot of reading and for me, digesting and contemplating.....if i didnt work full time i could have done them both in a summer term, but given i work and have 2 kids i needed the full semester to do well.

I've taken both in a winter semester, along with a fundamentals class and fundamentals clinical. That was a very busy stressed out semester, so I can only imagine that taking them both in the summer (doubling the load) would be pretty bad. It's a lot of reading and a lot of information to digest. I guess only you can decide!

From what I've heard the school I just got into requires us to take them at the same time over the summer, so apparently it's doable.

I am taking both right now and it's fine. however, if I were you, I wouldn't try to take pharmacology in the summer. It's a lot of work, lots of drugs to memorize.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I did a search on here for both of these terms and found some great posts! From the sound of it Patho can be pretty tough!

I think that I have decided what I am going to do is take nutrition (I took this before but dropped because of personal reasons) so I know what it entails and it is easy for me. I am going to take that in summer 1 and then in summer 2 I am going to take art appreciation and the computer class that I need.

Then this fall I am going to take A&P2 and then in the spring I am going to take Micro and Statistics and then next summer take Chemistry (which is a very easy class for me). This allows me to take my tougher classes by themselves instead of taking the art and computer stuff during the regular semesters. Also that way I can apply for the BSN at TWU for Spring 2010 (apps have to be turned at the first of Sept). Then I can take Patho and Pharmacology the fall before I hopefully start the nursing classes. Neither Patho or Pharm are required to apply, I just thought about going ahead and taking them now.

Hope you can follow all of that! I am just ready to get started again. I took time off, well dropped my classes last fall and decided to pursue other interests but nursing just keeps pulling me back in. This time I have got to stick it out and see it through!!!! :nurse:

Is anyone on here taking Patho/Pharm online? I've been looking for an online class but can't find one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
