$$58.50 PER HOUR!!

So far, the highest rates in the nation I have been able to research on the internet for regular time/nonstrike nursing is an assignment in Portland which pays 50-58.50 per hour for a 26 week commitment. Can any agency, Per diem, travel or fulltime RN beat this rate?? I'd be particularly interested in hearing about what the highest rates are in the lame paying state of FLORIDA. Thankyou

Lame paying state of Florida? No need to get rude. And I seriously doubt Florida is the lowest paying state.

Florida is in line with the rest of the Southeast, which lags behind some other areas like the West Coast and the Northeast, but isn't the lowest.

It's all relative though. Most other professions are more lower paid in Florida and the Southeast too, not just nursing.

The winner of the lowest paying state would be Iowa, according to a radio report, we rank 51 in pay out of 50 states. That stinks!!

I too plan to travel some day, but doesn't work for me now.

Consider this...form your own professional practice group, provide your own benefits, operate a business and command the rate of pay you need to cover your benefits and make a better wage....ummm start your own business. Many others have and are somehow making a great living off the overhead they charge for YOUR work...this means hospitals, nursing homes, agencies....cut out the middle layer and increase your financial worth and enjoy nursing again...email me for an introduction to indendent practice/entrepreneurship.

I agree. By the way, where is Charles?

See http://www.preferredrns.com/main/ for more info, and btw he is very personable and great to talk to. He answered my queries and I really enjoyed hearing about his venture, which is extremely professional and solid. I think he should sponsor an allnurses.com convention and give a workshop on his business. What do you say Charles?
