Pepcid IV

After reading on a pepcid bottle it "for iv use only after dilution." Does everyone dilute pepcid or do you give IV push?

this summer i got it IV push i dont know if it was diluted but i had no problems

You might just be safer by calling your Pharmacy and making sure that you are following facility guidelines for any medication.

I did and they told me basically everyone here is saying. I was just curious to see if anyone had guidelines specifically for administration or if it is up to the individual nurse.

dilute with 10ml and push over like 5 minutes...........when i was a new grad we used to hook it up as a piggy back with 50ml .9ns over 1/2 hour.

ok, i guess i'm extremely comfortable pusing pepcid over a few minutes.

Giving it over 2 minutes into a running line is diluting it. Never had a problem. Our pharmacy puts it into a 20 cc syringe and we give it via syringe pump these days.

We always give it IVPB. Pharmacy mixes, probly due to the form or quantity they purchase.
