I am starting this thread to find anyone who is starting the Nursing program at Pensacola State college January 2012. I thought it would be a great way to share information and to meet potential class mates. I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi, my husband also is transferring to Pensacola and I wanted to apply to the RN Nursing program. I have ALL my pre-reqs finished, thank goodness! Do you know how long it usually takes now after you apply to actually start the program? I can handle waiting for 6 months, but a year or two seems ridiculous. Will it help my application process that I've already finished all my pre-reqs with a 4.0 grade point average? I still live in Virginia so I can't go talk to anyone in person at the school yet. Any information will help a great deal. By the way, if you've finished the program, is it a good one??
You have to come here in talk tot he school and start the paper work. As long as you meet there requirements you can enroll and they will make a custom list of classes. I have been the program for 12 months and its not easy but i enjoy the school. The wait for class start is no more than 3 months. Just like any for profit school they want you there for as long as they can so be ready for that. I here negative and positive from people but no matter what any school is going to have problems. They are producing very good NR's and they have had last semester a 100% NCLEX pass rate. This is earned not given to you. The NR that is over the program has set a standard for the school. PSC can take a very long time to get into there program and they have a very low pass rate for there NCLEX testing. Much cheaper there but I will tell you you get what you pay for to. The biggest problem in Fortis Pensacola is that you have young smart students that want to have everything handed to them. They blame everyone but their self for failing tests. I use to see this in the Navy with the youngster I supervised so no difference for me. Hope this helped ask anythign you would like and i will try to answer.

Congratulations! I start the day program January 2012. Orientation is sometime the beginning of November. Hopefully it's firmed up soon. I was told medical packets will be given out then. I was supposed to start last fall but had to defer due to personal reasons. Went right up to a week before so I'm complete for entry except updated flu vaccine. (: Very anxious to get started!
