Has anyone been projected to start the RN program at PSC in January 2014? I just took the HESI entrance exam this month and received an email stating my candidacy and that my estimated start date will be January'14. I was really hoping to start in the fall'13 but I guess I waited too long to take the HESI Also, any idea on when acceptance letters will go out?

I just found this site and I am very new here. I just saw your post and wanted to let you know that I was also told by PSC that I would be starting around Jan 2014.. I am bit disappointed since I was too hoping to start fall of 2013:( Anyways did you receive your acceptance letter? I am not sure if they are going to send out this soon since its like a year out.

It's doubtful that you will get a letter this soon. There are still two more classes going in before you. There will be one starting in May 2013 and then in August 2013. I would imagine you will receive word at some point in the Fall semester 2013 for the upcoming Spring '14 class.
Yeah, I've heard acceptance letters won't go out until the semester before. It just feels like a long wait so it's easy to feel like the whole thing is not quite set in stone. I'll busy myself in the summer and fall by taking the nutrition and microbiology courses. It'd be really nice to get that letter sooner than expected though, I've heard of that happening but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I took my HESI in October 2012 and I am getting anxious too. I am projected to be in the January class as well. I have a friend who took the test in May 2012 and is starting in Fall 2013 class as an alt seat. I was hoping to start Fall 2013 myself but its still only april so who knows.. best wishes

I emailed PSC and was told that my projected start will be January 2014! I was told that letters will go out towards the end of September.

The HESI entrance exam is actually really not that hard. They cover Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Math, and Anatomy and Physiology. I really thought I was going to walk out of there with a 70, but ended up with a 90 overall. Don't stress about it. Pick up one of those practice test booklets, run through it once or twice, and go take the test. Really easy. I think they give you about 3-4 hours to complete the test, but you generally don't need that much time. I'm not sure what you mean by the vocal section? Unless you're talking about the Exit HESI, which I assume is nothing like the entrance exam. Oh, and yes, they do give you a calculator to use. Good luck!

Jdoyle,
Can you please tell me some more information about PSC HESI exit exam?? What do you need to score in order to graduate and go take your state boards?? How many attempts do you have?? I am possibly looking at applying to PSC.. I went to another nursing school that had an exit exam and I didn't end up passing so, I am currently looking into doing LPN to RN transition.. Thanks!!

Wish I could help you. I am still waiting to start the program for Spring '15. I haven't taken the EXIT HESI yet. Best of luck!

I got an email from the department saying I start in May! They said we will get letters in the mail around spring break and an email saying letters have been sent. Don't call the school and ask your date, though, my situation was an extenuating circumstance.

I am new to this discussion, but I was just told by the Nursing admissions that PSC is starting to go by point system. I was projected to start May 2015 and alternate for January 2015 which is next semester. They are now saying they can't give a projected start date because of the point system for HESI scores that will start in Jan 2015. Guess we will have to sit here and wait for the letter :-/
