Pensacola State College Nursing Program 2016

Published

Hello,

I passed my Hesi-A2 and have been informed that I am scheduled to start the nursing program at Pensacola State College in May 2016. I wanted to reach out and connect with anyone else that might be starting the program at the same time. Also, if anyone that has already started the program can offer some advice or insight about how the first semester is would be so much appreciated!

Hello, I am currently in the program at PSC and I actually am set to graduate in May 2016. Just be prepared for a lot of studying. First semester is not so bad but second semester is a rude awakening, that was my worst one. As far as advice, just study your butt off and you will be fine :)

Hi jbm1135,

Thanks so much for the advice, I'm really excited about starting. If you think of anymore tips to throw my way, please don't hesitate. I'll take all the help I can get!

I would also recommend Nclex practice books and doing all the practice questions you can. I bought the app Nclex RN and it helps. A lot of the tests are just knowing what the question is asking for and how to answer it. All nursing school does is prepare you for the Nclex.

I start in January myself at PSC. Does anyone who is currently in the program know what books are needed the most and if using a different edition than what they say you need will affect me too much? I bought the Ebook box set from a student that graduated last year because he bought it on left over scholarship funds and didn't need it. However, two of the books are the previous editions. Will I be ok? Thanks!

You should be okay with those. Which ones are older editions?

I have the medical-surgical 7th edition and the All-In-One 3rd edition . I heard that the books are hardly even used in the course, is this true? Thanks!

That's not true at all. The tests come directly from book material and powerpoints.

Thanks for debunking that myth! Anyways, my books should be fine then?

I would think so, several classmates had older versions and were fine.

Alright, that makes me feel so much better! Thank you so much!

I have a Saunders NCLEX book that I used to learn how to answer questions and also study for NCLEX (altho I used UWORLD more for NCLEX). Would be happy to give it to anyone who wants it. I'm in the P-cola area.
