2014 Jefferson FACT Applicants

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hey y'all! Who else is applying to Jefferson?

I'm sure all of you will do well!

thank you all my interview is on december 4th and i also have perfect gpa 4.0. I hope I get in as well.

Thanks again

Good luck with your interview Kayfactor!

The interviewer also told me that I would be hearing from them within a few hours. I DIDN'T hear from them until a day later…so if you don't hear back right away don't have an anxiety attack (like I did). :)

Michellepa, no problem, happy to help! I have lived in just about every neighborhood in Philadelphia so I can definitely steer you in the right direction based on what you are looking for.

What does everybody think about starting a Facebook group page or something to connect a little easier?

Kay, good luck!

Congratulations Everyone! I'm sooo excited. I'm looking for the January Cohort...Is anyone entering this January? I would like to connect and see what you're doing about books (oh my goodness....lots of them), uniforms, parking, ipad and financing. For those of you with interviews coming up, good luck and just relax. They're just as everyone has described them. If anyone is looking for rentals...I can tell you about the neighborhoods, pricing and if you want, find you a place.

I think a facebook group is a great idea:) I'm in the same boat-coming from out of state, and I prefer to live alone but don't think I can afford it...how much do you guys think a studio or one bedroom would be in a decent area of town?

I just created a group on Facebook called Thomas Jefferson Fact 2014. Can't wait to meet all of you!

Studios range from $800-1800 depending if you want want to be in a highrise closer to center city or in a multifamily or town home in a neighborhood around Jefferson. I live in Northern Liberties which has more town homes and multi units but it has easy access to the Market-Frankford line which gets you very, very close to where we'll be. It also has lots of on street parking available, which a great alternative to spending $150-$300 on parking. Graduate hospital is also very affordable put getting to Jefferson using transit isn't as easy. It really depends on whats more important to you...lower rent and parking or being close and spending more. There are some areas you'll want to avoid...so make sure you ask people who know Philadelphia...not just trust a rental agent or private home owner to give you the honest truth.

Have you guys started filling out your background check?

Thanks, Nikki! I haven't started filling out any of the paperwork yet...is it intense?

In past years' posts current students have tried selling things-ipads, uniforms, books, etc. for cheap. I wonder where they are?? And where the rest of our classmates are??

Hey everyone!! I am starting the FACT program this May. Is anyone else?? Does anyone know if buying the ipad is a mandatory requirement for the program?

Hey Everyone!

Michellepa - thanks for starting the Facebook group! When I search for it I can't seem to find it, can somebody let me know how to find it?

NikkiP - I'm on the wait list for January (which would be awesome!) but I'm not banking on somebody dropping out so most likely May. :) Also, I'm in Fishtown and find myself out in Northern Liberties all the time!

KCallahan1 - When I attended the Open House last year they said the iPad was mandatory. Necessary for clinicals rather than carrying around multiple textbooks.
