2014 Jefferson FACT Applicants

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hey y'all! Who else is applying to Jefferson?

Can you guys tell me when class starts in May?

I think I read somewhere the mandatory orientation is on May 13th? But I'm not sure!! It is in mid-may though.

I called the Financial Aid office this morning, and she said that because the FACT program is a 2nd Bachelor's degree program, I would only qualify for $12,000 government student loans and that I would have to take out private loans from a bank for the rest. With living expenses and tuition, that means taking out almost $50,000 in private, high-interest loans for the 12 month program. I'm guessing that is why most people go directly into the workforce-so they can pay off some of those loans before entering the MSN portion of the program. That amount freaks me out a little bit!! With most other Direct-Entry programs you are classified as a graduate student throughout the program and have access to government loans for the entire portion. Does the debt situation scare any of you guys??

It doesn't scare me personally, but that is only because I have already saved up most of the money for the undergraduate tuition portion.

Congrats on the switch to the FACT program! That's exciting:) I'm not sure about everyone else, but I haven't received any emails containing any of that info yet. I also don't know what the best living situation is...dorms could be nice for being right on campus, but I don't know if I want to live in dorms again, ha.

Hey guys, I have been invited for an interview. I want to know the kind of questions you were asked. I just want to get that acceptance letter or email lol...pls help your brother out

And how soon did u guys receive the acceptance email after the interview

Hey Everybody!

I'll be starting the FACT program in May as well! (On the wait list for January start date but I highly doubt anyone will drop out)

I'm so looking forward to meeting all of you! For those of you coming out of state I actually live close to the city and have lived in Philadelphia for the past decade. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the area!

what kind of question were you asked???

Hi Kayfactor!

The interview was super low key, no off the wall questions that you wouldn't know the answers. All questions that call for you to respond from a personal standpoint. I remember being asked "why nursing?" essentially. Whether or not I was comfortable working with a population diverse as Philadelphia, what sort of specialty I was interested in, other than that I can't really remember. Go in rested and friendly and you will be fine! :)

alliesarang Thank you so very much! I will be contacting you soon since I will be coming out of state. I guess the biggest concern is where to live. I would love to live alone, but I will not be able to afford it so I will definitely need some roommates:)

Kayfactor I totally agree with alliesarang. The interview was super laid back. They really want to know who you are and why you want to be a nurse and not any other health care professional. I am sure you will do great. I found out that I was accepted that same day so they may let you know immediately. If you do not hear back immediately, do not panic:) Good luck!

I found out I was accepted later in the day!

thanks.sorry for being too curious. Did they tell you that you are accepted during the interview or days after??
