I have been accepted into the Penn Valley LPN program for Spring 2014 and enrollment for classes starts Nov 4. The nursing department isnt very helpful with answering questions and just talks in circles. Do they enroll you in your classes or do they tell you what classes to enroll in?

I also applied and was accepted, I got the email anyway, which doesn't really mean squat I don't think.I took the Compass test at Penn Valley, failed miserably on the math section and have to take Algebra pre reqs.I am taking them at Maple Woods Community college most of next year so I won't actually start the LPN program until 2015.Maple Woods advisors are much more helpful than Penn Valley(my opinion).
Would you be willing to forward me the email that talks about what classes to sign up for? They just told me to check my blackboard which I have and there is nothing. My student email is blank as well. I feel like I may just have to go down there and talk with someone because enrollment opens up on November 4th. I start January 13th and need to sign up for classes to get aid but trying to get anyone to tell me what I need to sign up for is like taking a nail to the head!
You really need to fill out an app for FAFSA,then go to Penn Valley and take the Compass test,it covers reading, math and spelling, you'll get your results after you finish the test. You have to have a certain percentage to pass so that you won't have to take a bunch of pre reqs,I have to to take Algebra but I've been out of school for 22 years. They will tell you what you what classes if any that you will need to take.
I was referring to nursing classes whether I only take fundamentals or something else in the first semester .
That I don't know,I haven't gotten that far, still stuck at the pre req stage,it would probably be best if you ask to talk to an academic advisor at Penn valley, they can answer those questions.

First of all, have you had orientation yet? Because a lot of questions will be answered there.
Other than that don't worry your not alone, I was accepted to the RN-Spring 2014 Day Program & still haven't gotten a chance to enroll in my classes yet because they haven't switched over my AA degree to the AAS degree, 2 weeks ago during our orientation they said something to the means that hopefully they'll have that done by the mid of November or the end of it if I recall due to someone quitting or passing away unfortunately just a few months ago, so that has made things hectic for them & they don't want to switch over some students too early because if they're taking classes right now, it'll affect financial aid I think for them if they do it too soon. Other than that, by that time I mentioned hopefully we can pick our classes & talk with financial aid.
I've been doing my best asking questions & doing math with the financial aid office to make sure I meet SAP before they switch over because of a few repeated classes that are switching over, if this is your case I'd do the same. Also, I've heard from friends of mine that are currently in the program & that have graduated that they pick your class schedule & your clinical schedule as well, so hopefully you'll have a flexible job if this is the case too. I've been applying for weekend jobs just to be safe incase mine doesn't work out.
Sorry for all the details but hope this helps you out some, other than that I'm hopefully assuming will get to pick classes by our CNE-check date which mine is November 21st.

Well this comment is a little too late but I'm sure you've found out what classes you're in. I started back in May and we studied Foundations of nursing and A&P! first semester is a piece of cake compared to the rest of the semesters! good luck!
Thanks for all of your help guys! LPN orientation isnt until December 19th. Ive been emailing with ----- and I thought she was going to enroll me today but as of yet Im not so I figure I might as well go meet with financial aid anyways just to have an idea. I just want to get everything completed so I have time to purchase books at decent prices and such. I dont have an abundance of cash just sitting around to just drop at the last minute. I already have a degree so mine is all loans which is a bummer. Currently trying to get a grant to help pay for it and my job offers tuition reimbursement but thats after the semester. I do have a flexible job and will be working weekends only so thats taken care of. Just want to know how much money to save to pay for things until my loans come thru but cant apply for them until they enroll me in classes. Its a catch 22 i tell ya! I only have to take the 9 nursing courses bc Ive taken all of the pre-reqs and all of my classes have transferred over even for the RN program.
sadly my CNE check in date isnt until December 2, us LPN folks have later start dates on everything which is a bummer! I just want to start getting what I need to so the financial burden is so rough all at once if I can spread it over the next few pay checks that would be awesome!
Hey guys I got my classes today woo! Persistence definitely pays off.
Hi, quick question.
Are you paying with financial aid? Because I'm starting the RN Program in the Spring & my classes have officially showed but my financial aid hasn't posted, I called the financial aid office & they told me they hadn't switched my degree plan from my AA degree over to the AAS degree, spite the classes are showing & charges are posted to my student account summary.
Are you or is anyone else having this same issue?
