Penn State Residency: Hershey Medical Center 2015

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hey Everyone,

I don't see a thread for 2015 yet, so I thought I'd start one. I'm just beginning the application process, and the clinical narrative is killing me. I precepted in trauma at a trauma center, so it was get them in, get them out: usually to a rehab. I can't think of how I might have changed their lives or had a big impact. I was able to attain great skills and do frequent assessments: neuro, neurovascular, cardio, telemetry strips, etc. and do and see some great stuff, I wish I could write about that!

I'd like to hear from anyone applying now or who applied in the past. Any pointers?

For those who recieved an interview, has anyone recieved a offer letter via email? Lynn told me they would start sending them out yesterday (4/15/15)

I haven't heard anything yet!

I actually recieved a offer letter today.

nursepa717 did lynn email you? and what unit did you apply to? i haven't received anything yet, not sure if they'll be sending more out next week or if i'm rejected at this point lol

Peri-Operative and Yes she did! I talked to lynn the day I had my interview. She said the letters may take up to two weeks to be sent out from 4/15 (Wednesday) because some Nurse Manager takes longer/shorter to tell her which applicants they want to send acceptance letters too. Hopefully you'll hear good news back! :)

Ah okay awesome thanks and congrats! I interviewed last Wednesday 4/8 with MICU and Lynn just said that we would start hearing back after Wednesday 4/15. Hopefully I'll hear something next week then :)

Lynn also said as they get turn down from people who don't want the position. They will send it to the next person they want so I would give it a good week :) Best Wishes!

I also received an offer on Friday

Congrats! Which unit?

Thank you! In the PICU

Has anybody else heard anything or not heard anything?

Specializes in OR.

I am graduating from a BSN program out of state next spring and was planning on applying to the Hershey Medical Center residency program. I am looking forward to living in PA again and was wondering what the salary range was up there for graduate nurses. Where I am at currently, a graduate nurse will start around $21.00. Also, if anyone has gone through the program already or in the process of going through, what are the pros/cons of the residency program. I appreciate the guidance and hopefully end up back in PA next fall! We are ...
