Hey guys i applied and got my approval for the Info. literacy class with penn foster. as i am goiing along and studying for the first portion of the test i ve noticed something weird. It says that i will have 60 min per question. so i guess my question is what type of questions are they asking you that can take so long to be answered? can anyone give me some info on what these questions are like? thanks again!

I just signed up and took the exams myself. From start to finish, It took me like 1.5 hours. The questions are fairly simple based off the 112p reading material that is in PDF format for the first test. The second test is applying what you learned in the first section and actually using the web to find your answers. It's an "open book" test so you are given more than enough time to look stuff up if need be. Hope that helps!

Hello, I am interested in taking that class with Penn Foster myself because its cheaper, did you mean the test itself took 1.5 hours or the course and the tests took 1.5 hours?

It took me around the same amount of time. Once you sign up you'll access their website. There will be two study guides for the two tests. There isn't really a "course" it's just two tests.

Hi fellow nurses. I recently took info lit thru penn foster and had my credits transferred to Excelsior. You can take your time on the exams. 60 min. per questions is correct. I thought it was a typo! Lol. Pretty simple. But take your time. I did the 1st exam without reveiwing any of the material and I got a 65. Failed. Even though it allows you to take a makeup the retry exam I could only get a high grade of 70% even though I scored 98%. Good Luck.
Thanks for the input. I just see the one credit hour class a waste of time, especially if you are transfering from another school. Everyone I know has had to write a paper for some sort of class or find information from the web, it just seems so redundant and a waste of time and money.

It's just a necessary evil. Luckily there is an alternative that is cheaper than EC's class, because there wasn't a Penn Foster alternative when I did Info Lit in 2006, and I had to pay for the EC version. Ouch. Granted, it was a little cheaper then, but still!

I just finished this course this morning through Penn Foster it took about 2 hours to do the 2 exams. It was pretty silly but oh well it's done. :)

where do you get the study material?
I browsed the Internet and used there online library and the study guide they provided. My printed material will arrive in a week but im already done :)
I have to get that exam done...blagh--I'm dreading it. It's open book?? I'll go through PF for sure, much cheaper. I still need Sociology CLEP and Analyzing Lit....CLEP..booked them both this month.
It's open book, I was dreading it to but once you see the material and do it, then it's a memory. I only spent $ 80 bucks at PF. $70 for the course ENG 103 info lit and $ 10 for them to send my transcript to EC. They must had some type of special going on. GL
