Pearson Vue Trick--trick no more

Published

Hello everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!

I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.

Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.

I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!

But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!

After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!

Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.

This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.

Okay thanks guys! I don't know if I'm just being anxious or pessimistic but I find it hard to believe that they would charge you 200 and you still pass, especially when some people are still getting the "pop up". Either way I really hope I passed cause I don't know if I can endure another 45 days of constant studying!

The reason it happens is because you are scored twice. If you try the trick before the second time, and the first time was a fail but the second a pass, you will be charged. The trick had the same short coming before - you just didn't have to go as far as submitting your CC information. This is not a trick that PV intends to exist, and is in no way endorsed by them. So if it is inconsistent, that certainly is no fault on them since it shouldn't be relied on in the first place.

Lunaloveg did u get charged? And people say they've seen a couple but in reading them myself I've read some that could be construed as if they've been charged and passed but none that clearly state that but rather upon rereading i believe they probably imply the opposite. Some people have said that the trick didn't work cuz they passed even tho trick said they failed but they were under the impression it still worked like the old website. I'm still waiting for someone to.show me that, shouldn't be that hard to find if there are three.

Yepp, I received a receipt and checked my bank account and everything. If I actually did fail I obviously won't be mad since I would have to pay for them again anyways. But a little part of me is hoping that I still passed even tho I paid to 200.. :nurse:

Shouldn't be hard to find? Have you seen how many threads there are and how lengthy they have become? I'm about to go to bed and have work in the morning. If I remember to dig them up, I will. But it's going to take time and patience. Seriously, there are a boat load of threads on this already, so please don't think I'm trying to deflect.

No worries I never asked you to do so specifically, I've asked others many times tho and no one has been able to. Just saying I have read boat loads and none that say so. Even then, it is definitely a possibility for that to happen, but three sounds like so many given the odds of it being wrong as well as the odds of people trying the trick in the first place since most are afraid to.

But who knows, I would just like to see it. Either way it is pretty clear to me the trick works just like it used to, which of course, is not at all a guarantee nor an official result.

For starters, in this thread alone, this poster used an invalid credit card that Pearson tried to run, rather than give the pop up. Others who have used bad cards have received the pop up in spite of the bad card because Pearson doesn't run it.

Took my nclex today with 180 questions

tried the trick and filled out cc info and hit submit and did not get the good pop up and I was-devastated

then got an email from the Bon saying I passed looked my name up and there was my license...

the trick does not always work I am living proof

I'm not sure why that says you posted it????

Maybe this time it'll work...

This is the post where the same poster describes the credit card getting declined by Pearson.

I did not get the good pop up today after trying many many times I entered my cc and the wrong last number and it kept saying my card was invalid which is supposed to mean you failed well... Just looked at my Bon site and I passed

Okay!! The trick still does work, but in a different way! ? you must enter your info and credit card information, then take the risk of submitting the payment. If you hit submit you still get a good "pop up"! (Hoping this means I passed!!!!)

I tested today 9/16 at 2pm. It's now 7. I was taken directly to the credit card page. I entered all of my information, submitted it and then entered my credit card number. I hit submit, knowing I was taking the risk of being charged $200, but did it anyway. Then, I got the good pop up, and won't let you register/pay!

Yeah I read that one but that was not done correctly. It needs to be a valid CC number and exp date. They can tell immediately without even trying to authorize the card if the number is invalid. Same has happened with people who put the wrong exp date. So im still wondering if there are any real times this has happened. Like I said I know it definitely can happen, it happened even before, but I just doubt the second grading is that often different from the first. Anyway no hard feelings and apologies if you felt attacked.

Update:

I have tried the trick several times and my bank finally deactivated 2 of my cards due to a fraud alert. I still am receiving the triangle "good pop-up". I have not been charged by my bank for $200. Just wanted to share this information as I don't want others to have their card deactivated on them when you're at the gas station trying to pump gas and get declined because the bank deactivated your cards.

My state does not participate in the quick results option.

That poster never had the card processed, he entered invalid credit card information and Pearson let him know. It did not give him an insufficient funds message. The card entered must be valid/real numbers in order to get through the first step. He entered made up numbers so the "trick" was never properly done.
