Pearson "trick" 2017 NCLEX RN

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I've been on this site all month reading about the NCLEX and the Pearson vue trick; and I told myself if I passed that I would share my experience! So here I am :)

I graduated December 16, 2016 and signed up to take the NCLEX January 30, 2017. To study, I did the Hurst Review: 3 days live, watched all the videos online, and the 6 Q review exams. I found the Hurst to be a good review of the content, but more importantly the Q review exams helped me to "think like a nurse". My scores were: 63,71,81,80,84,79

When the day of my exam arrived, I still wasn't sure if I was going to try the trick or not.. but I ended up doing it as soon as I got to my car lol. To me, the exam was extremely difficult and I felt like I was getting them all wrong. I was also worried because I only got like 10 select alls.. however, I knew that I got the last question right, which I heard was an indication that you passed. Nevertheless, the screen went blue after 110 questions (took about 2 hours) and I felt horrible.

I went to my car and pulled out my debit card to re-register (changing the exp. date and security code) and when I hit submit the first time the pop up wasn't there because you actually have to "view all your info to make sure it's correct" and then hit submit AGAIN to get the pop up. I got the good pop up and couldn't believe it, ugly cried for a good 5 minutes, and checked the board of nursing website the next day at 9am and PASSED.

I find it funny that when I didn't see the pop up at first - it was like a death sentence, but once I actually got it - I was skeptical of its legitimacy lol. Everyone in my graduating class who has gotten the pop up has passed (at least 10 of us so far). Some people suggest waiting, but I tried it literally like 15min after I was done testing and it worked.

My advice would be just to study and don't give yourself any reason to feel regret once you sit in front of that computer; know that you did everything you could do to prepare and you can do it!

Best of luck to future RNs!

Yay!!! Congrats to you both! That is the "good pop up"! :D

Has anyone gotten a good pop up early and then reverse to a bad pop up and fail?

Not that I've ever heard of.

who hoo to us both... im such a skeptical. i have done it two more times since then. Name doesnt appear on BON though.... im from NEW YORK dont know if it will be there before a quick result or not.

I took my test at 11AM PST, and got out a little over an hour later and been doing it almost every 15 minutes lol.. I'm just a bit skeptical as well!

I'm in the same boat. Shut off this morning at 75. Got the good pop-up, but I'm skeptical and nervous and don't know I'll make it till Friday!! Anyone ever get quick results earlier than 48 hours?

So you can do the trick right after you finish taking the test? I take it Friday and I know it'll drive me crazy to have to wait two business days to be able to buy the early results or look on the BON website.

I took my licensed veterinary technologist boards in 2009 and it took weeks for my name to show up on the New York State professions website, so don't necessarily go by that. But to be fair, I took the last handwritten boards so that's probably why it took longer. But they still take their time.

I tested this am and shut off in 75 and got the good pop-up, but I'm also super skeptical and panicky. Ugh! Friday am can't come soon enough.

agreed. Im dwelling upon it too much because I didnt get a math question ( though i think thats a lower level question) and I didnt have delegation . I have priority but not alot more like intervening questions and alot of select that apply at least somewhere between 10-20). It was weird and my strongest is OB and had only 2. I had like 4 exhibits but no hot spots or audio . Lots of therapeutic communication but not the obvious type ... and alot of teaching . two infection control but not easy ones like based on the symptoms which precautions to use ....the quality of question were hard regardless of the level they were so i am soooo scared. I know the odds in the favor of passing at 75 ....don't hear alot of people fail in 75 unless they really blew it. Im not that type of person. The good pop up comes up each time I do it . I did only to ease my brain but i'm worried and yes NYS isnt that fast i rather the quick results first before going on line and it tells me i'm not licensed. UGH can i go to sleep and wake Fri when available on quick review. i too have a job waiting for me to pass...ugh so stressful two more nights of no sleep

Yes, this is the "good" pop-up. Don't fret. You will be alright!

No, quick results take the 48 hours almost exactly.

im trying not to but i read somewhere that the pop up isnt already accurate.ugh 24 hours more. Just got word from one of my friends she passed . She took it day before ...same as me in 75 but she was too nervous to do the trick
