I am a new grad and starting my orientation in the MICU at the end of the month. I am curious as to how many critical care nurses out there use a PDA while working and if so, how beneficial is it to your practice. Thanks.
I have a Sony Clie-but they aren't made anymore. They only exist used...

Hey those drug programs sound great. How do you get them? I have a PDA but nver used it yet and thought it would be great for that kind of info. Also a program like "disease process pathophysilogy and care of" would be great. is that something we coudl beam to or from are friends?
Visit www.skyscape.com - They have plenty of programs available - most of those mentioned throghout this thread and more.
As for me, I use my PDA mostly to get a drug information, particularly "implementation" section which provides the most important points about the medication administarion.
Also, my PDA id very useful for storing the notes I make myself about anything: important numbers/extentions, info about equipment and other stuff.
I work in the ER and have the RN Suite which is fantastic: drug dosages/calcs, peds stuff, a basic Broselow tape, prego wheel, allergies, drug guide. On the documents to go, I keep my templates for dictation consults and H&Ps. On the phone numbers, I keep all my nursing home numbers, community resurces, etc. I use it everyday. I keep it in my scrub pants pockets - I have the 7 pocket scrub pants and would never wear anything else.

I am interested in a PDA....Which PDA brand and type does anyone have or recommend? I am currenty considering the Palm Tungsten C. I like the idea of having a key board to type into. Seems quicker than pulling a stylus out and punching letters,
