  1. Hey everybody, I've been working nights for 7 months and it had its advantages and disadvatages. My biggest problems were gaining more fat on my belly as well as being depressed after working two 3-days-in-a-row once. I've never been so depressed in my entire life. Ever since I realized this, I asked my manager to avoid scheduling me 3 nights in a row.
  2. Hi Everybdy, :balloons: I have a couple of questions to you. The first is: Do you continue treatment of the patient after the DNR form is signed? By treatment I mean supplementing the patient is case of electrlite imbalances; or keeping a patient on pressors to maintain BP. My second question is: If a patient had NSR without ectopy and suddenly developed irregular heart rate at 150s-160s, what will be done for this patient in your place? (Additional facts: systolic ABP 110 and MAP around 70's; neosynephrine is in progress titrated to keep MAP>60; pt. has "wet lungs"; sodium 151; potassium 3.4; albumin 1.9; vented on assist control mode; pt is DNR) If you need any additional info to answer, let me know. Thanks for your response.
  3. I also try to do the test every time I get an a-line. Unfortunately, our hospital does not have a clear policy about this. So I realized that the treatment of our patients is based on the unreliable measures (ABP, CVP, etc)
  4. From what I read in all posts, everybody mentions how important it is to support another nurse in a difficult situation without blaming. Unfortunately it does not happen in every place...

As for me, I use my PDA mostly to get a drug information, particularly "implementation" section which provides the most important points about the medication administarion. Also, my PDA id very useful for storing the notes I make myself about anything: important numbers/extentions, info about equipment and other stuff.
  6. Clemm78, In my opinion, all people sometimes make mistakes. It is impossible to avoid them. That's why I agreed with Tweety about supporting others. Like you, I always learn from my mistakes. Thanks a lot for your response!
  7. Thank you guys for your input! I do agree with you Tweety about supporting the feelow colleagues instead of judging them.
  8. Hi everybody, By reading lots of threads on this website I realize how many nurses participate in the various discussions. Thus I wanted to ask question which bothers me a lot here. Do experienced nurses make mistakes that threaten Pts life? What do they do in those situations? How do you treat RNs who make serious life-threatening mistakes?
