pct/nurse tech wages

Published

I was contemplating working at a hospital as a pct/nurse tech after my first semester of nursing school and wondering the approx. pay.

thanks:nuke:

13/hr with one year experience plus shift diffs. I can do everything a CNA can do plus blood sugars and there are additional classes offered for foleys, blood draws, swapping O2 equipment (not changing it), peripheral IVs, and wound dressing changes >24 or 48 hours. After one semester of nursing school I can do most of the things the classes above taught me except the blood draw.

WHat if you don't have any experience? Do i still have any chance of getting a job? I have work on the clerical side of a medical office for almost a year though. I really want experience before i apply to nursing school. I hear St John's Mercy in st. louis will train you there, anyoen know how much the starting pay is there, and how hard/easy it is to get hired with no experience???

I'm starting nursing school in st louis/st charles and i want a tech job but it seems like no one is hiring. Can anyone help with getting a foot in the door?

I was hired at a very large hospital in VA with no experience except my CNA class and clinical experience. I am starting at $13.60 plus shift differentials. It can happen you just have to keep at it. I've been applying for various positions for over 6 mos.

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

Hmm, well than would it be reasonable for me to expect at least $14 for a 3rd shift position at a big hospital in SoCal? I am halfway through my nursing program, have a bachelors in another field, have experience in assisted living.

I work as a Public service aide-student nurse intern at a major hospital in San Francisco. We start out at 15.30/hour with just clinical experience in nursing school.

Based on quotes I have seen in other forums, that sounds plenty reasonable!!! I have seen some quoting getting paid 20/hr. in SoCal

I just got hired, no experience first hospital job and they are going to train me for 5 weeks and my base pay will be $15.00 hourly and $16.70 on weekends and I also live in Boston, MA.

No experience as a CNA/PCT in Seattle hospitals start ~ $15 to $16 hourly, not including shift differentials.
