pct/nurse tech wages

Nursing Students Technicians

Published

I was contemplating working at a hospital as a pct/nurse tech after my first semester of nursing school and wondering the approx. pay.

thanks:nuke:

After the first semester of nursing school, Morton Plant Mease pays 11.09.

Would this be LPN or RN school? UCH offers $9.22 for completing 2 semesters of LPN school. This doesn't sound decent compared to what I've read on other websites. If any nurse techs are reading this, what was your starting salary? And how many months of experience did you have at that time?

TGH in Tampa pays nurse techs $12/hr just have to complete first semester of nursing.

I work in a hospital in Missouri and I'm making 13.46 as a tech, $1.20 for the night differential and .75cents for weekends.

Specializes in CNA.

I am excited this summer i will do cna + pct courses and i really hope to land a job in a hospital as soon as possible. I live in NYC and i am wondering how much the psy is to work in the hospital.

I work as a tech on a med/tele floor at a level 1 trauma center in central TX. We're called clinical assistants. I've been working for one year and I make $12.18/hr with $1.25 for weekends and $2.50 for nights. Since I work nights and weekends I make pretty good money for having no experience or training.

We do vitals, blood glucose, chart i/o's, EKGs(interpret and actually hook up the leads), input orders, start and d/c foleys, d/c iv's, draw blood for routine blood and blood cultures, in addition to all the normal ADL type stuff.

Okay so what is the going rate in Indianapolis, IN at a private hospital? I recently had an interview and potential pay was not mentioned. I will be a pre-nursing student no experience.

But what was your hourly pay when you had no experience?

I am in Florida, only zrauma hospital in county, might be recruited for their ER. I am so excited! They start level 2 PCT @ 9/hr and each skilk you can perform adds 0.50, so potentially about $12/hr. I have no hands on experience, just 1 year into nursing so she said I could be level 2, but there is a level 3......I'm osyched! Stavbings, gunshot wounds....I would do it for free! My interview with nurse manager of emergency dept tomorrow, so excited! I am praying for this. Goood luck to everybody.

This is a non-profit, teaching, level 2 trauma facility.

Specializes in M/S, pedi.

North of Boston, MA they are starting at 13/hr + differential with no experience. Hospital setting, phlebotomy and ekg training provided, must already be a CNA or Nursing student with one clinical rotation.

It was around $11.xx something. I don't remember exactly.

What hospital do you work in? I live in St. Louis and am looking into trying to get a tech job to gain experience while im finishing pre-reqs before i can apply to nursing school. Also, if you have any advie or suggestions i would appreciate it!

13/hr with one year experience plus shift diffs. I can do everything a CNA can do plus blood sugars and there are additional classes offered for foleys, blood draws, swapping O2 equipment (not changing it), peripheral IVs, and wound dressing changes >24 or 48 hours. After one semester of nursing school I can do most of the things the classes above taught me except the blood draw.
