PCCTI LPN School?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi

I have been doing research about LPN schools and employment. I came across a school name PCCTi located in Chicago or Oakbrook. Anyone gone there to do there program? Please tell me any information about this school? Was it a challenging program? I appreciate anyone who can help me out here. Need to make some decisions but would love to know from someone who actually took the classes.

Thank you and have a good day!!

Not to mention, the last batch of Students from PCCTI had a 53% Passing Rate on the NCLEX exam =x.

OMG is that y they did the HESI thing?WOW now it all makes since. This is why you dont hire college teachers from craigslist.God I hope they shut them down so bad i truly hate this school!:banghead:

Hi Boob,

Can you please let us know where/how you got this information? I'd be very interested to research this. Everything I've heard from the instructors that taught the June group was that only 2 failed Nclex on the first try. Did you get this information from a website, the state, another student? Thanks!

A lot more than 2 failed the NCLEX. That is why the HESI policy was put into effect...because of the low pass rate on NCLEX.

Ok. Again, where is this information coming from? Are these stats for Chicago or Oak Brook or combined? I currently have a call into the Illinois Center for Nursing and I'm waiting to hear what they have to say about the matter.

I'm not saying things are perfect but I hope that people that go to the school or are researching it are getting their info from several sources before posting on a public message board.

The word around school is their have been a few students expelled in the past week for inappropriate behaivor. I can't help but wonder if that's why their have been such an influx of negative posts about the school. Those combined with "facts" with no source make me wonder.

And for about the nine hundreth time I would strongly suggest that people do not post information on the board that isn't 100% accurate. There is a little thing called slander and no one wants the school coming after them with a law suit over the crap they spewed on a website when they were angry. Unless of course we're all made of money?

LOL uuum no. The negativity comes from the phony policies.Everyone's contract has been broken and people were told by Naveen himself that "if a policy is changed all contracts are automatically broken" btw that is NOT true. The HESI is ABSOLUTELY not made for testing not even the EXIT HESI.Their job is to make sure students pass the NCLEX not stop them from taking it.All tests that count in the students grade come ONLY from the students book given by the school. They gave the students a test that was not from their book and that is not to count for anyone's grade but for use to show who and what needs improvement and made it count 40% ot their entire grade in 101 and 50% in 102.The final is suppose to come from the students book ONLY.For the final of 101 PCCTI said 50 questions will be from your book and 50 from other books.AGAIN ILLEGAL according to the ISBE.That is where the negativity comes from people have no interest in paying and taking their school down at the same time. What happened there is wrong and very illegal and the ISBE is on them for it as we speak. BTW everything i say on here is true. I have paper work or witnesses to prove it therefore it is not slander. :grad: oh and by the way they lied to the nursing students it was the LAW that required students to take the HESI and have it count 40% and 50% of their grade. And it was the LAW that it was to be taken in only 1 hour. And it was the LAW that there will be only one try. I sure hope they have good LAWYERS because they will need them.

I am currently a student at PCCTI LPN school, they not only offer nursing but also have several other wonderful courses and two of my friends tok some other courses and refered me to PCCTI for LPN, since day, no one has mislead, been very upfront, Yes they have changed some policies only to maintain better standards for the students and as a school as whole

I have attended other colleged and universities and fully understand that PCCTI is a vocational school and there is not college or university that promises one instrutor throughtout the course or the entire progrom. GROW UP - My name is realistic."

I don't know how much higher education you have- but you do know that teachers can quiz you on anything they want (topic related), right? I would love to see a link to the Illinois State Board of Education where it states that teachers have to take all test material from the text books provided. I went to college for 4 years and off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 instructors who NEVER used the text that went with class. I can think of several others that blatantly took information from other texts outside of class and used those on exams. It's called education and building a knowledge base- educators are not held to a strict standard of who and how to test. So please by all means POST the link to the ISBE that says it's illegal to test on information not provided in class.

I'm confused? Who is saying Hesi is a "law"? The state of Illinois? Nope. HESI and TEAS are standardized tests that some nursing educators/groups are TRYING to make a standard practice- but it hasn't been yet.

Are you saying Naveen or someone at the school told you taking HESI is a law? Because if you are then that's news to me. We were told we had to take it from the begining. Now it counts as our grade. 40% for Nurs 102 and 30% for Nurs 101. That's a fact- I have the emails to prove it. Does it make me nervous? Heck yeah- any standardized test does. They are hard to take and not always accurate at gauging how well someone would do in real life. But honestly WHAT can we do about it? This is a private vocational school and they can change their policies. If the nclex pass rate is low then - I hate to admit it but I'm glad they did this with HESI... it WILL make us work harder. Study Harder. And then we'll pass the nclex on the first time. I don't have time to be taking tests multiple times- I want to be out there earning my living as a Nurse and practicing this career I already love.

So I put this to all the pccti students out there. Put your head in your book and keep on plugging. Work hard. Study harder and get this thing done. Complaining while you should be studying is going to get you a few things....

NO CLOSER TO THE GOAL OF BEING A NURSE

I am in NUR 102 at OakBrook. Personally I have had a good experience with the school.

In our class we were the 1st batch where the compulsory Hesi was introduced.

Out of a class of 20 only 2 students failed the class despite the so called HESI scare.

The 2 students who failed , deserved to fail even without the HESI.

And I am sure those 2 students would not blame themselves but everybody in the world, most of all PCCTI and administration , instructors etc.

Can they go to NCLEX board and tell the board to reduce the passing marks, or to take their class grades into account instead of NCLEX exams.

I have 2 students from Chicago , who passed their NCLEX in their 1st attempt. What they did, they practiced online questions from day one.

That is what PCCTI is trying to make us do by incorporating HESI.

Initially we had reservation like everybody else about HESI.

Now that we have experienced it, I fully appreciate it being part of the grading process.

That made all of us practice NCLEX based questions. That made us frantically make an effort and practice , buy research online questions.

The fear of online exams is gone.

I am sure by giving 5 more speciality Hesi , we would be fearless for the online exams.

ALL MY FEARS ARE GONE ABOUT HESI.

INSTEAD OF BEING NEGATIVE , GO TO THE ONLINE RESOURCES THAT WERE SENT TO THE US THRU EMAILS AND PRACTICE ONLINE QUESTIONS.

I AM SURE YOU WILL ACE HESI AND NCLEX.

PCCTI IS A GOOD SCHOOL . THE HARDER THEY MAKE THE STUDENT WORK THE BETTER THEY GET.

You really don't know much about the new HESI policy and poeple that do see that.I suggest u go and talk to someone. You can apologize later for questioning my level of education. Not that is my job to give you any facts whatsoever i will tell you to call the number on the last page of your contract and simply talk to someone about all the questions you have instead of questioning random people you yourself implied are "ignorant" urwlcm:

LOL. I didn't question your level of intelligence, I questioned if you had gone to college before- didn't realize asking if someone went to college was something one needed to apologize for. I said I wasn't sure how much higher education you had. I never said "ignorant" so I'm confused as to why you put it in quotations. I've been going to Pccti since June- and since I'm considered the "vocal" one in our class I can assure you, I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Clearly the only goal you have had since signing up for Allnurses is to bad mouth the school. I mean -you have 11 posts. ALL are dedicated to "informing" people about the "scam" that is PCCTI (your words, not mine). So if you're soooo informed- and feel this deep burning desire to educate the masses on the wrongs that are being committed over in Oak Brook- how about you post some facts? if I really wanted people to take me seriously I would post facts with links supporting my data. Otherwise your posts are chalked up to "just another person who ddin't do well trying to bring others down". If you are a student at the school then you would know that we received an email this week FROM an LPN coordinator detailing out the Hesi Policy.
