PCCTI LPN School?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi

I have been doing research about LPN schools and employment. I came across a school name PCCTi located in Chicago or Oakbrook. Anyone gone there to do there program? Please tell me any information about this school? Was it a challenging program? I appreciate anyone who can help me out here. Need to make some decisions but would love to know from someone who actually took the classes.

Thank you and have a good day!!

my name is ayana mckrieth, one of the lpn coordinators here at pccti. i wanted to make sure everyone was clear on the policies in regards to hesi examinations and studying material.

1. for nursing 101, hesi examinations will account for 40% of your grade.

2. for nursing 102, hesi examinations will account for 50% of your grade

3. for the pre hesi n-clex exit exam, each student will be given 2 attempts to pass the test with a 900 or above. if a student fails to pass the test on the first attempt, then they must go to a dr. martin review. after completing a dr. martin review and providing appropriate documentation to the school, then the student will be allowed to take the hesi exit exam a second time. after this second attempt, there will be no more attempts given so the student must be sure to pass with a 900 or above.

my apologizes- i just got off the phone with bridget. i am half way done with nursing 102 and hesi is only 40% of our grade- she did say that people that just started will be held at 50%.

she also said that pccti's nclex pass rate has not been released as some of the students have yet to complete the exam. she did say it will be in the 90's though.

eta: no where in the letter you posted does it state that hesi is a law....so where is that information coming from? not to mention that, that email hardly proves that wrongs are being committed at the school. it just states their policy.

it is coming from Naveen he said it in a class room with 19 students and a teacher. It went something like this: "i cant change anything it is the law and it is for everyone in 2009.I cant change something i have no power over"

again call the number i told you about.read this email to them and they will gladly tell you whats wrong with it.

I have heard that the NCLEX rate was low from teachers at the school. DespSeekingNursing-if you have been to other colleges before, as you stated, then I truly can't understand how you don't see the problems occuring at this school. It is like no other school *I* have been to before and I have also completed 4 years of college.

It sounds as though your class has not experienced the drama that other classes have. I think you are not understanding where others are coming from. I do agree with you on some aspects though. I am thoroughly sick and tired of the complaining at this school. Yes, there are a lot of problems, but some students do not belong in nursing school and maybe that is why they are having a tough time grasping the new policies. Unfortunetly, I think the school is somewhat responsible for that, too.

I don't think the program is all bad. I have had the opportunity to meet a few good teachers(who haven't stayed) and learn a lot. I have a true passion for nursing and really WANT this to work and get better. I think the school, being a new program, is working through a lot of problems. I am not sure why ANY students are staying if all they want to do is bring down the program. We should be working with the school to make improvements instead of trying (ridiculously) to "get them in trouble". No one is going to win that way.

Lpntobe... I wholeheartedly agree with EVERYTHING you have posted. If you go back and read my posts you'll see that the majority of my responses have been- DON'T TALK ABOUT IT ON HERE!!!

I know exactly what the problems are- Hell I got into a ton of trouble in the begining of my first semester for being outspoken. I've learned to shut my mouth and plug forward. I too have a deep passion for nursing and I don't see myself getting to my goal if I'm constantly running my mouth and complaining. I've really reiterated this with my fellow classmates and they agree. We have not had many problems in our class because we keep our heads down and don't sound too many alarms. We really work together to pass tests, learn material, and stay foccused.

The reason I'm questioning some of the posts here are because they aren't filled with a lot of verifable facts. If you come on to an information board and spew "facts" make sure they are truly facts.

I spoke to the Illinois Center of Nursing today- the correct 2008 NCLEX pass rate for PCCTI is 71%. Not 53%. This is info that anyone can get by calling the CON. Unfortunately, people will come on here and see that post about 53% and start spreading the word. I'm going to PCCTI. With a little luck and a lot of hard work I will graduate and become an LPN, I sure as hell don't want my employer saying "Well I heard xyz about Pccti". I want facts.

Since i'm a soon to be nurse I also want to help -so lets get the RIGHT information out there and help one another.

What we should be talking about is how we each did on the HESI and how we can help each other study.

I got a 1035 on hesi maternity-if you'd like some tips & tricks let me know.

Our class today took the hesi for maternity.

Can you believe what was the lowest score 891.

That is unbelievable.. The entire class aced it..

Wow!!.

Once again fasten your seat belts and study hard. Do like what our class has proven.

Ace it.

You can't tell nclex to make their questions easy, but you ace the test.

Thankyou pccti for incorporating hesi. Way to go.

Iam sure now that i would ace nclex also. And made a very sound and good decison by choosing pccti.

"I am about to graduate and I agree with "realistic", they are no short cuts in life, people who like to be spoon feed in classes and be friend with the instructors thinging they will pass you, do not belong in this profession, I hope to god you do not treat any of my family member ever. Vocational school is an adult school and you are expected to studey outside the classroom and purt in double the effort if you want to succeed.

COMPLAINERS and WINERS LIKE YOU ALL ARE AND WILL BE FAILURES and will never get any where in life.

Wow! It really amazed me how many people are coming out of the woodwork and "pretending" to to be a part of PCCTI with all of their defense posts. How about learning how to spell or at least proofreading? THIS is the future of the nursing field??

LPNtobe, People like you are prejudiced and bitter, who are a threat to any patient. Your posts are nothing but imbalanced and opinionated, negative.

I just passed Hesi Maternity with a score of 1105.

I come to PCCTI Oakbrook to use their computers daily which have over 3000 NCLEX based questions to practice.

I also checked out a Kaplan review workbook from their Library.

They sent emails out to all students to use the school resources.

People like you are good for nothing, who are not capable of being nurses . They just spread wrong rumours to confuse other students.

I know for a fact, that the resources which you can get with PCCTI , and the Hospital clinicals that you get with pCCTI are not available in other schools.

Till now it has been a great learning experience for me. I am going to one of the biggest hospitals in

chicago for my clinicals.

Great school for people who want to work hard. But students like LPNtobe who want to pass without effort should choose some other school.

lol i wonder if these are the only 5 people in the whole "school" that seem to have such a fabulous experience...i think so because i hear a room full of screaming students and teachers every time i go there...i donno it must be just us...idiots

Excuse me, "Kenny", but in which of my posts did I say anything "bitter"?? I don't think you are READING the posts correctly because I was not the one bashing the school. I have repeated what is TRUE. I actually mentioned that I DON'T think the school is all bad. NEVER anywhere did I say that I was trying to pass without effort! Honestly, what are you talking about? Please go back a READ before posting. I am doing great at PCCTI and never did I want to pass without effort.

Get your facts straight.
