This thread is for those applying to the Palm Beach State College Nursing Program for Fall 2015. Here, we can discuss program requirements, HESI prep, information session updates, and encourage each other on this journey to nursing school!
About me: My name is Sarah, and this will be my first time applying to nursing school. I have a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the University of Kansas (class of 2006). After college, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a couple years before applying to medical school. Once my husband and I started a family, I decided nursing would be a better field for me. I've been a stay-at-home mom since 2009 and have been finishing up my pre-requisites and co-requisites in the meantime. I've taken the HESI and am all caught up for now (that is, unless I now need to take statistics in the spring).
Good luck everyone!
UPDATE! FYI!
The fall 2015 points of students accepted were...
24.43 average
23.11 lowest points accepted
Also, if any of you have questions about the hesi lmk! I just took my 2nd attempt today. I got an 88, which isn't bad. But I know how it feels to worry about the unknown and I'd be glad to answer any hesi related questions.
Best wishes!

Words of encouragement: it is NOT impossible. I went through Semester 1 pregnant and took pharmacology online as well as the micro class they wanted in addition to fundamentals WHILE working full time and caring for my other 2 kids (whew). Second semester was hard too with 3 children one an infant and still working full-time but I got it done. Semester 3 same thing but a little easier without skills class and only one 12 hour clinical day ....all this plus I've had straight As and all the lectures I took online. If I had looked at the entire program in the beginning and tried to figure it all out that would have only discouraged and overwhelmed me. It is POSSIBLE but not easy :) I had to get super organized and focused and take each day at a time and not listen to all the negative stuff out there...stay close to that one nursing school friend who is positive and away from those who aren't :) While I don't recommend going through nursing school with all these responsibilities and I wont sugarcoat it I also don't discourage those who really want it. It CAN be done
