Most of you guys are deep in the PBSC nursing program. I was wondering what your guys feedback on PBSC nursing program was? I got accepted for this fall into both PBSC and Broward and trying to make decision on where to attend. How are the professors in general? How is the program? Student moral? What is the employment rate like post graduation?

sweetcup belletifi Thank you for your the wonderfull suggestions. Ill check out the North campus to get a feel for it. And see if I can talk to some students. My first choice was Broward, but after reading some of the reviews on this forum, I began to second guess myself. But it could be the disgruntle students posting their "bad" experience. Here is my reasoning: Browards acceptances policy is substantially more lax than PBSC. Broward accepted 300 out of 400 students this fall. Thats 75% of the applicants ranging GPA between 2.8-4.0. On the other hand PBSC accepted 180/675 in 2014 about 26% of the applicants with GPA ranging from 3.4-4.0. The 75 percent of accepted applicants vs 26 percent of accepted applicants is a huge difference. This leads to me to believe there is a big gap/diversity in incoming population academic qualifications. I am thinking the Broward complainers on the board are the ones who did not anticipate the seriousness and dedication required by the nursing program. PBSC has less diversity, because the program is so much more competitive (26% acceptance rate), hence the students population are the top notch. In terms of NCLEX pass rates Broward had 92% pass rate while PBSC has an 82.82% for 2014. So yes Broward seems to produce better trained Nurses, based on NCLEX - but the drop out rate is so much greater in Broward. However, thats probably because of the gaps in the skill set of the population that gets weeded out. Id like to research my professors as well in the North Campus - looking at the registration page most of the North Campus professors are TBA.

Based on http://floridasnursing.gov/forms/oppaga-report-2014.pdf In 2013, BCC had 329 NCLEX exam takers with 94% passing. Each semester class size is 300 students x 2 semesters (fall/spring) = 600 new students per year. I am not counting re-tracks and I am not counting summer semester, so 600 students is a lower bound. If in 2013, 329 students took the NCLEX exam out of approximately 600 entering the program each year - it seems like 54% of the population graduates the program. On the other hand PBSC Lakeworth campus takes 90 students per semester for a total of 180 pear year. In 2013, 161 students from PBSC took the NCLEX. So it seems like 89% of the population graduates the program. These calculations are ad-hog , are there official stats on program pass-rate I can find somewhere? Broward north campus is so much closer to my home (7 miles). I would hate to drive to PBSC 35 miles away for two years!!! What concerns me is the overall graduation rate of BCC nursing program, not particularly the NCLEX since its a standard.

sweetcup, I checked the NCLEX passage rates on Florida Board of Nursing » Education and Training Programs - Licensing, Renewals & Information. BCC does seem to have a slightly higher passage rate. Where did you find stats on percentage of original class making it to the end? (are you adding up all the nclex takers for entire year and comparing it to size of class?).

i got into bcc and pbsc nursing trying to decide which pogram is a better fit. my orientation is at 1 on the 10th. nicole also did not reply to me after i confirmed ny attendance. what do you guys think if all the horror posts about bcc nursing on this site? are they just disgruntled students?

I was fortunate enough to get into both PBSC and Broward college RN programs for Fall 2015 semester. I now have to make a choise How does Broward CC compare to PBSC. The admission to PBSC was much more rigorous and selective. Any feedback would be appreciated.
