Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.
I read on line that this school works on a point system
I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program
(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO
WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.
Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.
Thanks
SilenceDogood,
No one demanded an apology from pickled cookie. Her comments were simply an error in good judgment and pointed out by many on the forum. I may not be old or considered non-traditional but I know when to keep my opinions to myself.
On the contrary...good nurses have empathy for others. It is those thick skin nurses you reference that I do not want caring for my family members.
There is a difference between not getting emotionally involved with a patient and remaining compassionate. The disregard for the feelings of others is something entirely different.
smallz, thunter and anyone else that got in the program. you should look into the workforce alliance program. they will pay for your nursing career all you have to do is show them your acceptance letter and few small paper work. they will even pay for your state boards, give you a monthly cash allowance for gas & food. believe me they dont let you jump thru hell to get their funds within a weeks time all the paperwork will be done (2 weeks max).when you call say you want to speak to someone in obtaining a sponsorship for pbcc.

Your babbling is completely off-topic. Emotional involvement? Patients? Compassion?
Like I was saying, if a casual, half-joking reference to "old people" by a young woman to her suprise at a large number of over-35 type students in the program is viewed as such "disregard for the feelings of others" that it deserves rebuke... then the "others" need to grow some thicker skin. How petty.
When the rose colored glasses come off you'll see what I mean.
VegetasGRL03,
Hate to keep bothering you... but you are a wealth of knowledge for us "kids". I too am going into 2nd Semester and have a question for you. I read your post about what to expect and with specific regards to interventions... Are we required to know the drug therapy for each disease process? For example pneumonia, do we need to know the different antibiotics for the different types of pneumonia in addition to the nursing interventions?
Hope you are enjoying your time off, and thank you in advance for any guidance you can offer.
I too would love to know the reading assignments for first semester. Never too early to get started. Anyone? You could send by email if you have to.
H20, I do not have enough posts to PM & I didn't see your email in your profile. If you can PM me send me your e-mail & I will forward you what I have for reading assignments.

I'm LMAO @ the people who jumped on pickledcookie's r/t her comments about lots of "old people" being in the program.
Two words: CHILL OUT. You sound like you're getting old FAST. Demanding apologies and whatnot. Get real, grow some thicker skin.
"Non-traditional student" LOL. A student is a student, period. Old people (like me!) have been going back to school since forever. There was obvisly no ill intent made by the comment, she was probably just suprised there were so many of us.
If this kind of stuff offends you, well, good luck in nursing school.:roll
